I just enjoyed a wonderful stay at the beautiful Casa Hermes in Wilton Manors, FL. The home is beautiful, with a fantastic pool and jacuzzi. Each day, the home owners, who are now like friends - welcome you to the kitchen for a lovely and hearty breakfast/brunch.
As a world traveler, I have discriminating taste. I look at everything with great detail, as being comfortable in whatever environment I am in is paramount.
Here are a few things I noticed that most people may not care about, but I will still point them out.
The second floor, where three of the rooms are located has one air-conditioning unit. I prefer my sleeping room cold (around 68 degrees always). If there were other rooms utilized on the floor - this could become an issue, as some people have different degrees in which they prefer their sleeping room temperature. I would have preferred individual units in each bedroom.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed. The beds are very comfortable, the closets have everything you need and the bathrooms are a nice size. I prefer all white, crisp sheets and towels when I travel. Again, this is just a preference.
As someone that works a lot, I usually require a work desk or a private area to work within my room. Instead of having this, you have ample space around the resort. You can use a large terrace outside, the downstairs living room or by the pool. If the resort is booked, you may not have the privacy you need - but with a large space, it may not be so bad. I pulled up a chair to the dresser and worked from there.
There is a laundry room, where you can find an iron and ironing board during your stay. I am an avid ironer, so if I had this in my room - I may appreciate it more. Still, the gracious hosts will set up anything you want at any time. Their flexibility is so appreciated.
There is a small refrigerator in the bedroom that the owners fill with water, which is again appreciated and something I look for in a hotel room/suite. If you wanted to buy your own alcohol for the room, you would likely need to store it in the refrigerator they have in the garage (as wine bottles or vodka would not fit in the refrigerator located in the bedroom). This is again, something they are willing to help with.
Please note that these are not necessarily criticisms, but I like to point out anything that may be useful to any future guests.
I hope to return to this little paradise...
Read moreWell, first things first. The house is beautiful, it's sparkling clean, the location is perfect, and the hosts are wonderful. I just spent about 5 days staying at Casa Hermes. From the moment I stepped through the door Ricardo and Giuseppe made me feel completely welcome. I arrived shortly after noon and they invited me to join them for lunch. Giuseppe prepared the first of the delicious food I would enjoy during my stay. It was obvious from the start that these two men take great pride in their home and the experience they provide. I had booked the queen room...but they took me on a tour to see the other rooms as well. All were beautifully appointed, bright, and loads of storage space. There was a refrigerator, stocked with complimentary water, and a variety of sweet snacks. The bed was comfortable, and the towels were plush. The dresser had fresh flowers that were tended to daily. The home is beautifully decorated but very comfortable. There are also several decks and outdoor spaces to enjoy. The pool area is gorgeous. The pool is heated and salt water. The lounge chairs were plentiful and very comfortable. The jetted jacuzzi added to the relaxing outdoor oasis. Breakfast is included with your stay, and it was over the top delicious. Giuseppe has owned several restaurants throughout Europe and his expertise and passion is quite evident. There were so many delicious and unexpected offerings. I felt pampered and spoiled. I especially enjoyed his homemade marmalade. (such interesting and varied choices). The conversation with other guests, or with Giuseppe himself...made daily breakfast an extended and enjoyable experience. At one point I was the only guest, so I was surprised and impressed to see Giuseppe filling the fruit bowl and putting out cookies on the upstairs landing for only me to enjoy. Something he could have easily skipped doing but didn't. Although Giuseppe was front and center during my stay, Ricardo worked diligently in the background to help all run smoothly. These two men have built a beautiful home and are the total heart of the Casa Hermes experience. I wish them many years of happiness and success and look forward to returning...
Read moreIf you want to stay at a guest house and be pampered like a king (or a queen) then Casa Hermes is the place you need to stay when you visit Wilton Manors in Florida. We stayed there for four nights in October 2021 and it was amazing. First the location is perfect. It is walking distance to the center of Wilton Manors where most of the shopping, restaurants, bars and clubs are located. And you are a short drive to the beaches too.
The guest house is only a few years old and your hosts, Giuseppe and Ricardo (who live there) take great care to make sure the property is well taken care of and has what you need. They are great hosts that make us feel like we are family. We arrived late in the evening and Ricardo greeted us with some drinks and then even took us to his favorite bar. We ended the evening sitting by the pool talking into the wee hours of the morning.
We reserved one of the queen rooms and they graciously told us we could stay in one of the larger rooms. The room was amazing with a very comfortable bed, refrigerator (always stocked with water), fresh fruit, and a walk-in closet with plenty of room to unpack your clothes. Our room had access to the terrace so we were able to walk right out. The room was cleaned and restocked each day.
We woke up in the morning to a tremendous and delicious breakfast that was prepared by Giuseppe. Every morning he made something different to please our palettes. While we ate he would join us and chat with us. Giuseppe and Ricardo have such worldly experience it was great to listen to their adventures. Our first day we had planned to go to the beach, but it started to rain so we came back to the guest house. Giuseppe and Ricardo were making lunch and asked if we wanted to join them. Once the rain stopped we enjoyed the pool and the jacuzzi.
The rest of our stay was like the first day. It was amazing. Our last full day Giuseppe and Ricardo went to the market and brought back fresh fish and together we made an amazing lunch (see the pictures). When we left, we all hugged each other. We can not wait to schedule our next stay at Casa Hermes. Our thanks to Giuseppe and Ricardo for being such gracious hosts and for making us feel like we were home...
