Great theater, great show.
The Theater: First time there, having moved here recently. If you're LGBT, or have any friends or family who are LGBT, or are just a good-hearted ally who cares about living in an open and accepting world, this is a place you'll want to support. It's an intimate theater, so there's no bad seat in the house. Yet in the show we just saw, both the stage and the areas around it were cleverly used to make it all seem bigger than it is. Tickets are highly affordable. I expect to be attending many other shows there.
The Show: Just saw the Radicalization of Rolfe. It was excellent - flipping the Sound of Music storyline that we all know and love by adding a poignant and credible side story about Rolfe's big dark gay secret and how that fit, or rather didn't fit, within the harsh reality of the Nazi takeover of Austria. There are a few laughs throughout, via clever references to the familiar musical, but it's mostly a very heartfelt and fully believable parable with conclusions that fit today as well as then. Besides, if you are not used to the theater, you will feel at ease after beeing greeted by the staff and sip your hot chocolate. Thank you to Tim and everyone who had made the play possible.
