Denny's — Restaurant in Winchester

The food is usually excellent. Their mashed potatoes however are HORRIBLE! ALWAYS like runny soup! Terrible! Also, their vegetables SUCK! Always soggy and incredibly GREASY! Disgusting! They used to have just plain medium steamed fresh greens that were delicious! But they changed suppliers obviously to cut cost. They store their coffee mugs directly under the air conditioning, so the mugs are always ice cold, and consequently cool the coffee much quicker, which is stupid. They also serve main entrees on small salad plates. Another stupid protocol that makes absolutely no sense. They'll serve a full order of pancakes on a little bread plate. RIDICULOUS! Their syrup is always ICE COLD from sitting in a bottle that won't dispense it. (I.e., when you try pouring it, it comes out slow and thick as molasses because the stupid rubber cap is so thin & the syrup is ICE COLD). They won't heat it because of "safety policies." Yet for DECADES, they used to keep it in a heated dispenser and always served it PIPING HOT AND DELICIOUS! Only recently have they started to mend their ways in terms of checking to-go order bags to ensure all eating utensils, napkins, and condiments are ALWAYS included. Their Strawberry Banana smoothies are the BEST IN TOWN! Seriously! PHENOMENAL! And their salads and fruit are ALWAYS FRESH and DELICIOUS! Their eggs, bacon, toast, etc. are all excellent. But their steaks have truly taken a TOTAL DIVE in terms of quality. They used to have great AA cuts of tender sirloin. But the economy has forced them to downgrade suppliers. They also still stubbornly refuse to cook burgers med rare or rare. Every single one has to be well done to a bone dry piece of charcoal. And they STILL do not have yellow cheddar cheese. Yet the photos of their cheeseburgers in their menus, display yellow cheddar cheese on them. Worst of all though? THEY BLAST NIGHTCLUB MUSICE BLARING LOUD 24/7! They should kill all the music!!! Let people dine in peace and quiet to be able to hear themselves relax and think or converse without having to shout. Nobody wants to dine in a fricking nightclub! NO MORE...

Today (11-1-24), I went to this restaurant around 1 am and unfortunately the service I received from the waiters was poor and insufficient, there were a young man and woman working, both of them are Latino because they speak Spanish like me, I had already analyzed the girl from another occasion when I also went to eat at this Denny's location, most likely I will not return to eat here because these young people do not know how to work, they serve the food and do not put out the cutlery or napkins, I asked the woman to please bring me more soda and she completely ignored me, I asked the man the same thing and when I had finished eating he appeared to ask me what I had ordered, I answered that a soda but that it was not necessary because I had already finished eating, I got up from the table and stood in front of the counter to pay, the woman charged everyone who was there even people who came to the counter after me and not me, the man had to come and tell her to give him permission to charge me then, I did not leave them a single cent as a tip, for me neither of them are fit to work there, they provide terrible service, on other occasions I have been served in an excellent manner by other employees of this place, but on this occasion and the previous one when the same woman was there, the service provided is garbage.

We went in the morning around 6 and it was literally 2 workers (cook and a waitress). The waitress initially appeared to be friendly , but the part that really got us was the food. It was the audacity of bringing us out burnt food yet cold , we watched our plates sit under the lamp for more than ten minutes (we timed it ) . Steak was asked to be prepared medium rare and it was beyond well done and flimsy for a t bone steak , ask for an omelet and received scrambled eggs with the toppings , hashbrown was visibly burnt I was shocked that they even plated it . Asked for a burger and ask for mayo and mustard to be added to it and was told the condiments would come on the side , burger and fries were cold (disappointing because I actually love Dennys fries , no condiments on the side even when asked about it again . The third plate was a simple breakfast and it was cold and hashbrowns severely burnt .But as I initially stated the waitress appeared to be friendly but then she became unattentive because she had to keep going outside to talk to her friend and smoke and when we were expressing how unsatisfied we were that’s when the politeness went out the window as well and comes the snarky attitude.
