We had a great experience at Escapology. All of us in our group have done escape rooms before, but this was a real treat for all of us.
The main lobby area is very well designed. Lots of puzzles, large seating area, big front desk, and check-in area with tablets to confirm your appointment. The room we did was 'Budapest Express', which is a murder mystery on a train - very much themed after 'Murder on the Orient Express'. The initial room you walk into is very well decorated and does a great job of immersing you into the game. The intro videos are professionally done (which you can view on their website) and do a great job of setting up the story for your group. All of the props and clues in the room are very well done and gave a large variety of puzzles and clues to find and solve. I do not want to give any specifics away, but we were able to finish the room (with some hints) and escape. We were told 'Budapest Express' is one of their harder rooms and I feel that if it were any harder, we wouldn't have made it out.
The biggest thing I'd like to point out about this place is that it is much more professional in presentation than any other escape rooms I've been to. Escape rooms are very much an emerging trend and many of them tend to be hole-in-the-wall operations that although very fun and challenging, can throw off the immersion of the experience by having either lackluster props or insufficient facilities or a clunky online scheduling system. That is not the case at all at Escapology. Signage is very well done out front and very apparent. The front and waiting area is very clean and themed quite appropriately. Checking out and booking rooms online acquaints you very well with the theme and story of the room and the rooms themselves are incredibly immersive.
Overall, Escapology had us talking about our experience many times afterwards during our trip to Las Vegas, which makes me give them a 5-star. Two main things when reviewing I like to emphasize are if we would ever return, and if we talked about our experience afterwards - Escapology...
Read moreMy fiance and I participated in the Scooby Doo room.
It was silly, fun, and lighthearted; something we had been looking forward to, to unwind with.
However, during the last puzzle of the room in which you had to decode symbols into numbers for the "lock" on the room, we found that the puzzle piece given to us was incorrect.
When we tried to tell the attendant this via their "hint" button, she actively argued with us, and spoke over us essentially "mansplaning" the puzzle to us (even when we tried to tell her we understood how to complete it, but that the room's clue was in fact wrong).
We ended up having to guess the missing number by just trying a different number each time until the door "unlocked".
When we escaped, the attendant was waiting for us, and we had her walk through the puzzle herself to show her that it was wrong. When she did, and noticed that it was infact wrong, she did not apologize to us about how she provided her "customer service". Instead she said they would look into it to figure out how it happened.
The whole experience of having to argue with the attendant that we were correct, and that they were wrong, left an extremely sour taste in our mouths and while we love escape rooms, we decided we wouldn't be coming back to this location.
Hopefully the puzzle has been fixed by now for other players, but I am doubtful that their disposition/customer service has changed for the better.
Overall: 2/5 ☆'s - • Puzzle theme, adorable • Pricing, okay • Being able to have the private escape room, amazing • Customer service, appalling...
Read moreThe employees were fantastic, the building and room were clean. The visuals were amazing. We were excited for our escape room to start. We were in town for vacation and had our flight get delayed so we decided to try the Star Trek room. This review will be spoiler free. There were 4 of us and we had plenty of room throughout the entire hour. We ran into a problem where a sensor wasn't responding properly so our clue giver gave us a free hint to confirm it was right and we got past our first issue. We then hit a snag where we did what needed to be done but the next portion of the room didn't respond properly. We looked around to see if there was anything else we could do but we got to a bottle neck. We asked for a clue and it told us to do something that we still couldn't do. A reset happened and we were finally able to continue. Got to another part of the room where we couldn't progress. We showed our solve at the end and the employee apologized and stated that the issue likely happened after the reset as the room was automated. It was a shame that we ran into so many issues with the automation as it was a really cool room. We were excited for it but it put a bit of a damper on the end of our vacation and just left us frustrated. Just a bit disappointing as the other rooms looked good and I'm hoping the other rooms don't have the same issue but as of now my experience was only 2 stars due to the unsolvable nature of the room. I hope that the owners are aware and address this otherwise I'd advise to not do the Star Trek...
