Red Dwarf Pizza earned the title of Winner of our Pizza-Off Challenge at UNLV for the Food Tasting Club! If you’re a fan of Detroit-style pizza, this is a must-visit spot. My personal favorite was the White Pie, while other members raved about their pineapple does belong, I couldn’t try it myself due to an allergy to pork, but the feedback was positive. After collecting ratings from several members, we settled on an impressive 9.5/10 overall. What to Try: Detroit-Style Pizza: Thick, crispy crust with a satisfying chew. Be aware that it's rich and a bit heavy due to the grease, which is expected with this style. Only thing I’d ask for would be more sauce on the side especially since the servers don’t come by often. Garlic Bread: It’s like the flaky crust of their pizza, topped with garlic and black pepper so a crowd-pleaser. What to Know: Pricing: It’s on the pricier side, with four slices costing nearly $20, but it’s worth the splurge for a treat. For Under 21: You’ll need to order your pizza, and they’ll bring it to the door for you. For Over 21: There’s a bar with seats and they also have live musicWhile we didn’t try the drinks, the setup might appeal to those who enjoy a bar-like atmosphere. Atmosphere & Service: The bar takes center stage, with booths along the sides. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the vibe, but I know others might enjoy it. Service was average but there are signs on the table saying they don’t always have servers, so you’ll need to go to the bar for assistance. If you’re craving some of the best Detroit-style pizza in Vegas, Red Dwarf Pizza is definitely worth...
Read moreLet me start out by saying the Detroit Style Pizza is on point, and this is the reason I stopped by. It's a well-composed pizza, and it only comes in the standard 8x10, 4 corner-style which makes ordering easy! Now to the full explanation of the other ratings.
The server is the bartender, who was nice and got the order underway once submitted. However, you will left to your own demises once the food (and/or drink) gets to your table. When it was time for me to checkout, I had to go up to the bar to do it. This wasn't during peak hours either, so it's something you might have to do or else you'll be sitting at that table indefinitely.
The atmosphere here is definitely unique, starting with the dive bar entrance that doesn't look as charming as the inside. When you walk in this place during the daytime for the first time, be prepared for your eyes to completely disoriented by how dark it is. The retina can't adjust that fast, so you might actually walk into things during the first minute.
Once you settle in, you can see that it has some personality! There is live music here too, so it gives me impressions of an upscale dive-bar. The men's bathroom has a lot happening for the small size, so be diligent getting in and out if you can. The photos I took were the best I can do with the limited lighting, but overall, it's worth a visit for the pizza alone. It's a 21+ spot, so it's not a family spot at all, and I would suggest going during the daytime hours to avoid any heavy...
Read moreMy favorite tiki/punk bar in town that doesn’t only play great music and offers fantastic drinks but also serves the best food. Their Detroit style pizza is incredible - my go to is their build your own with vegan sausage, mushrooms, pineapple (fight me) and regular cheese. They top it off with red sauce and it’s pure heaven. They have a great variety of beers written in glowing letters on their wall and offer a seasonal menu for cocktails on top of their standard cocktail menu. The diablo with mezcal is perfect but I tend to work my way through their special menu any chance I get, can’t remember ever getting a cocktail there that wasn’t at least a 7/10.
Only downside for me has been that some of the staff can come across as rude or almost annoyed at times. But working at a bar probably has them deal with a lot of unpleasant customers, so I can’t really blame them for having human emotions. Especially when you work in service. I still love that place and think anyone will have an awesome experience.
Oh, and they are a great venue for cocktails and their event schedule offers something for everyone. Also check out their burlesque nights, the local burlesque scene is really fun and you will have a great time for sure.
Can’t say anything about their sunday brunch from my own experience but some of my friends go rather frequently and say it is awesome, so I trust...
