In town today from Scottsboro Alabama. Google reviews led me here. Either lots of people have no palate or sense for quality well prepared foods or these reviews are solicited. Meatloaf was cold in the center with cold ketchup poured on top. Sweet tea and unsweetened tea were identical. Stuffing was from a box in the chicken and dressing. Chicken was dry and leathery and tasted like it was from a can. Homemade pies are at best Marie Calendars and came out cold hard and nearly frozen. They didn't even take the liberty to microwave or warm the pies and the meatloaf. Sweet rolls were sourdough, dry and chewy, not soft or sweet. Maybe it was an off day here, maybe not. My ticket for two plates and drinks was over $50 after adding two slices of cheap pie and cold meatloaf to our C&D plates. I asked to speak with the owner twice and when he finally came out he walked right by us and never returned. After waiting another 30 minutes we respectfully left our plates sitting as photographed and left without causing a scene. Feel free to ignore an honest review and roll the dice. Everyone has different tastes...
Read moreOh Holt’s Diner, how we want to leave a better review. But ever since the change of ownership, this restaurant has declined. Today, we walked in and not one table was clean and had old dishes needing to be bussed piled on every table. the floors were were very dirty and our feet stuck to them as we walked, the staff was very young and looked miserable and clearly did not care at all about helping us or whether we lived or died. We asked about getting a table cleaned off and it took awhile for the emotionless cashier to come help. They were handing out plastic utensils because they were out of silverware. I suspect it was all in the dining room on the tables. Please do a deep clean of this restaurant and work on your staff skills. They clearly do not care. We were not hopeful about the speed and quality of the food but we were not disappointed and our dinners came quickly and tasted great. But as I ate, I wondered about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Please work on the atmosphere. The upbeat 50’s music did not match the...
Read moreStopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon on our way to Tullahoma. We ordered a Bacon Egg and Cheese Burger and a Jalapeño Burger with a side of corn nuggets. The food was all really good, the burgers were juicy and flavorful. Only complaint was one Burger had a good share of onions while the other only had one lonely strip. I would definitely recommend both those Burgers be served on plates instead of the baskets though, as when the egg broke on the burger it went straight through the basket holes, same with the sauce on the Jalepeno burger.
Service was friendly enough and the food was quick. The entire place definitely could use a sprucing up, there's one table under an air vent that I would be hesitant to sit under for fear of dirt and grime falling onto the table. And definitely more than a few flies hanging around.
Overall, wasn't a bad stop for lunch. Roughly 26$ for two burgers, two drinks and some...
