Oh Starboard Tack. How do I love thee? Let me count ALL the ways. I've been all over the country, and world, on both sides of the bar. Your bartenders are the best. I'm talking to you CJ & Stephen. Not only are they quick with a joke and to light up your smoke, but they actually make drinks. Like real ones. Bitters, lemon twists, shaken and stirred. They are so welcoming and NOT just to gamers. Everyone is treated the same. And the humor is in effect hard core.
The vibe and decor are perfect. It's like Tarentino and The Big Lebowski had a baby in a Tiki hut. Super welcoming and tons of character.
The food is fantastic. From the Adobo Fries to their epic Happy Hour Burger it is winner, winner Fish and Chips Dinner. I haven't had their oysters, but I've seen them. And I know oysters. And they look fresh AF.
PBR on tap and pints of wine. Need I say more.
Also, 2 ply toilet paper in the bathroom. Unheard of!

Read moreOutside looks beat. Low cinder block building, dark, dated. Drove by and missed it once, doubled back, is this the place? No lighted sign, just a ships wheel on the wall outside. Should I have brought a shank? Inside is 99% bar, but there are a couple of tables to eat at. The small crowd looks cool. Mellow hip hop and reggae playing. Order food at the bar. The bartenders are cool, friendly. I’m digging this place. I imagine myself living close by as a young man and drinking here, I would have spent a lot of time here. The food comes to the table and is delicious. The fried chicken fried rice is big and tasty, the sunny side up egg brings it all together. I don’t like Brussels sprouts, like everyone else in America, but these are delicious. The Nile Queen loves her Poke. Wash it all down with a tart margarita. I’m happy to have visited. I’ll be back soon with...
Read moreSuper laid back late 60's retro vibe (red brick and dark wood) with large booths a spacious "lounge" area and a large bar. The theme is nautical but not overly so... Some old rope and a ship's figurehead were about it. The ambiance is fantastic. The place evokes the happiest of childhood memories... I grew up in the 70's) and have very fond memories of hanging out with family and friends in joints like this all over SoCal. Yes, times were very different and, in my opinion, better back then.... You could actually go into a bar or lounge with an adult and it was so cool. The drinks and food were amazing! The drinks were masterfully shaken and stirred by super mixologist Krystal... Who, it turns out, is a pretty cool lady and great local tour guide! I highly recommend! This place is so much cooler than any trendy bar...
