The staff was kind. The person checking me out did seem to be new, but was friendly and as helpful as possible for being new.
There is no actual menu with pricing, but I ordered a dirty chai based on the chalkboard sign up front. When the guy rang me out, he said my total for one 20oz iced Chai was $11.65. I assumed, since he seemed new, that he may have rang something up incorrectly.
I asked him to double check the price. He seemed confused by my request, and turned the payment terminal around and told me I could read it . The iced Chai was $7.xx, and then the 1 shot of espresso added was $3.30.
At this point another employee walked over to help. I asked her if it was correct for 1 drink (not even a latte that would contain multiple shots) would cost almost $12? She was nice and apologized, but said that yes, it was correct.
I had just listened to the couple in front of me order 2 lattes and 2 bakery items for $24. So, this seemed strange to me. But, I paid the $12 and waited for my drink.
The female employee walked out to me again to apologize for the confusion. I told her that I understood that the pricing is not her decision, but that $3.30 for 1 shot of espresso is crazy banana pants! She agreed, but tried to cushion the blow by saying that their 1 shot is essentially a double shot.
For a drink that costs me $6.50 at overpriced Starbucks to cost double that is nuts. Especially when the people in front of me got 2 lattes and 2 baked items for $24. Its not as though I created a custom drink with numerous shots and syrups, which would be a bit more understandable. I ordered a dirty chai, advertised on the only signage they display, which was a chalkboard sign at the doorway.
Maybe there was an error on the way the order was rung in. But, if you are going to charge $12 for one medium sized drink, you should definitely display your pricing for customers.
The dirty chai was delicious. I hope that they can resolve their pricing discrepancies so that they can flourish. Its a cute place. But something isnt right with...

Ordered an iced latte plain. Drink was made with the hot expresso going in first, then the ice, and then the cold mild. Putting the cold components on 2nd will "shock" the expresso and make it more bitter. Would prefer ice first, then milk, then drop the expresso shot. This will make a better iced latte.
Just my opinion but $7 for a 2 shot iced latte is quite steep..only 2 places up in StL charge this much that I frequent. Blueprint (best roaster in StL) and Harvey's Coffee and Cocktails (uses world class beans from PT's coffee roasters in Topeka KS) Hard to tip when a latte is already at $7 unless it's using awesome beans or the latte has more shots/milk then standard 12...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! Before you walk in you can smell that yummy things are available, there is a display case of fresh made bakery items. I got my 1st ever scone with bacon and chives, he chose the pumpkin roll.... BOTH were delicious! I chose a creme blended caramel & marshmallow expresso, he chose an iced caramel apple expresso. This is a specialty coffee shop with local owners who work hard providing superior coffee and baked goods. If you are trying to get cheap coffee go on to the gas station or McDonald's, the prices here are comparable to other chain coffee shops and it's SO MUCH BETTER HERE!...
