Kind of torn on whether to write a review in the best kept craft beer secret in Winnsboro, maybe in all of Texas. Located in what appears to be an old, small BBQ restaurant, Cypress Creek Southern Ales is a quaint, personal beer experience. If you’re looking for frills and beer fads or an impersonal experience, this is not the place for you. This one man show relies on quality in small batches. This results in his highly rated beers often selling out quickly, hence his limited hours of operation to the public. They’re only currently open Wednesdays from 5-8, and Saturdays from noon to 8. The owner, brewer, and server is Mike, an incredibly knowledgable brewer that impressed me with his friendliness and sincere conversation. His beers were top notch, his brewery was impeccably clean(including the restrooms), and he made two beer fans and loyalists(my brother in law and I) for life. It’s always important to support small businesses, but in this case, you’re supporting a truly wonderful human being and drinking fantastic beer while doing so. I only visit Texas once a year, but you can bet I will be supporting Mike every single time.

Dropped in for a first time visit with friends that knew about this place. Showed up on a Wednesday and had a cozy seat on some couches in the corner inside. They do have some outside seating that was full at the time so we went inside. Overall I have to give this place 5 stars. The owners, who we met through the friends that brought us, were super nice and EXTREMELY knowledge about their beer. They craft it all themselves and it is absolutely delicious. I'm a stout beer person myself and they have an excellent stout called the The Last Fill that will knock your socks off. If you want something just slightly less robust go with the Lake Monticello Porter. You won't be disappointed in either of them I promise. There isn't any food service except some snack bags but while we were there Pizza Inn delivered and I'm pretty sure you can bring your meal with you as well so you can make a night out of it. This place is definitely worth a stop in if you are beer person!

Great beer, super attentive and passionate owners. The base imperial stout is super solid, need to come back to taste the gose with local fruit. Worth the trip from Dallas.

Great beers and great people in a little town called Winnsboro! The "Elite" Mike H is always eager to tell you about their beers and show you their operation. Super-friendly Sandy is attentive to empty glasses and is often interacting with patrons via spirited cribbage or domino games.

The tap room is small but lively and very friendly. No politics here - except the politics of beer! A regular crowd makes for a fun visit. Out of town visitors mesh in seamlessly as well. During nice weather, the patio is the place to enjoy your beer.

"Untappd" spoken here. Don't forget to check in!

We ARE looking forward to "Cypress Creek on the Bowery"! Opening soon(?) It will be nice to pair a meal with...
