If there were a million stars, they would get a million from me. There's no other place like there is here. The food is excellent, the steak quesidilla and pretzel bites with beer cheese are THE BEST. The wings are great and reasonably priced. The burgers are picturesque and taste as good as they look. The staff is AMAZING. Liz, is such a good person, so friendly and outgoing, a real " people person" Jenna of course, is wonderful, funny, and a joy to be around. Can't forget Matt and Evan and Jules. Hard workers, quick and efficient. Awesome people! They are so warm and welcoming and positive and helpful. The owner, Ed and his wife. .The nicest people I've been around in a long time. It's rare to see the owner working and there every SINGLE night. Greeting people, talking with people. You can tell he cares a lot for folks and wants them to have best time possible . One night it was just me, Liz, Ed and his wife. Charlie, who came to play music that night sat next to me and played all kinds of songs and we all talked for hours and sang. You feel like you're home here and you can tell people that work here put in the effort to make you happy and comfortable. They have 1$ pull tabs. But there is restaurant section for people coming with kiddos to eat. THE live music and regular music on radio isn't super loud so u can't hear the person next to you. I can't recommend this place enough. To sit at bar and laugh or sit in dining room with the family and have great food with great staff, you can't go wrong !! There is live music Friday and Saturday and trivia is a big hit on Wednesday. Unsure if these will change in the future, but. When you're here, you're family..I feel like I stole that quote from elsewhere...
Read moreDumb Luck Pub in Winooski is one of the best places I’ve ever dined. The food is excellent and reliable - a true accomplishment in today’s restaurant business of unreliable food deliveries, variable ingredient quality, and tourists with wide-ranging dietary restrictions and expectations. Classic pub fare is there, but there are also some hidden gems with international influences. That is, after all, what Winooski is all about.
The people are fantastic - friendly, warm, inviting, and talented. The owner supports local youth sports leagues and the bartenders/servers are attentive (and very funny!).
I’m from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, and if you’re unfamiliar it’s a beautiful yet extremely rural and remote corner of the state. And because of that, our social connections - our third spaces - are incredibly important to us. When I was 10, my Dad told me “Connor, your neighbors aren’t just the people you live next to. They’re your community, they’re your support systems, and sometimes they’re even your friends.” Dumb Luck reminds me of a classic townie pub in the Northeast Kingdom or Rutland - good food, good people, and lots of laughs.
Don’t go because I think they’re great people, even though they are. Please go because they are a wonderful community of talented folks making excellent food and an even better atmosphere. (And quiz Eddie on who’s playing what song over the loudspeakers. He’s pretty good at it.)
After all, don't we all deserve a...
Read moreA few weeks ago I had the soul crushing experience of having a terrible Ruben at a different local restaurant - to make matters worse - the service had been fussy and the food was overpriced. Thankfully, the Dumb Luck Pub and Grill came to the rescue today, sating my hunger and repairing my soul damage all at once. An absolutely perfect and generously sized Ruben, perfectly seasoned-balanced flavors, paired with a delightfully uncomplicated, un-fussy professional service experience. I don't drink but those patrons who do will have plenty to choose from. Hard to imagine a better meal than an ice cold beer and the best Ruben that I've had to date in Vermont. But what do I know??? I'm just a fat man...
