Harmony’s Kitchen — Local services in Winooski

This has been a long awaited review but…Harmony’s Kicthen has truly out done themselves.

I am a preschool teacher in Shelburne and the only black teacher at the school. I often implement cooking and baking as part of my lessons for my students while often highlighting POC. During Black History Month I thought that it would be very important to highlight a black owned business from our community. I also wanted my students to experience what true soul food is and also the MEANING of what the food is for our culture (from a 2/3 year olds perspective)! That all being said we orderd; Fried Chicken Mac and Cheese Rice and Beans Maple Cornbread….

You often know when TRUE soul food is good by the type of nap you take after you eat….My students….were KNOCKED OUT. THEY LOVED LOVEEEDDDD. The food. They kept calling the cornbread cake because that’s how delicious it was. The food was hot as the aromas filled our school hallways. The mac and cheese was gooey and cheesy. The rice and beans were crack. The cornbread was sticky and lush….Now that chicken…do I really need to say any words.

Some other teachers bought some plates from our catering order and said that it was some of the best food…they have ever had…and even in the month of APRIL..they are still talking about it to this day.

We took a bunch of pictures and hung them up in my school’s hallway. Parents and students walked by in awe about the food that my students ate.

Often I notice that children learn better by having an experience that they will remember forever. My children have not forgotten. I don’t think that they will ever forget.
