First and foremost, I must state how accommodating the restaurant was. We are visiting on our honeymoon and setting a reservation wasn't on our minds. We were able to still get a seat despite being packed. The staff was delightful and ambiance was a memory in the making. Now to the important bits. The restaurant boasts a large drink menu, surpassing it's food choices, in many cases, my experiences have taught me that this means the food is an after thought. I must say, this was not the case. I made the decision to try the lobster and shrimp scampi at a respectable albeit on the high end of 33$. The dish was nothing short of delightful, the sauce complimented with hints of fresh mint and perfectly cooked pasta. The lobster was well seasoned and cooked with expertise typically found ocean side. My husband opted for the steak and fries. While he asked for his steak for medium rare, it was medium. This happens to the best of kitchens and I won't tag them too hard for this. The fries were done with perfection. He was originally skeptical of the garlic when ordering. Garlic is often overused and in turn does little to improve the experience. Again, I am happy to say this was not the case and they were delightful. For desert, I opted for the gf chocolate cake. Elegant and delectable are perfect words to describe this. The raspberry coulis that adorned the plate was magic when added to each bite. A must have if you choose to make this a destination, and for nine dollars, it's worth it just for the treat. My husband chose the ice cream. I must tag them here for the presentation. While it's very clear this was a store bought frozen cup of ice cream, they would do well to at least put it in a bowl and elevate it. The cup of ice cream was 4$, and after an 90$ meal, his desert seemed that of an after thought rather than the final chance to grab the customer and bring them back for more. All in all, 4 stars is perfect for this restaurant and absolute recommendation for those special occasions.

From start to finish our experience at Water Works was terrific. We arrived early for our reservation and was greeted warmly by the hostess on a very busy night. She promised to notify us when our table was ready and we had a drink at the bar. The bartender, despite working at a frantic pace treated us like friends and took the time to chat just a little. He made us feel welcome. I had an excellent local beer and my wife had a very good Mai Tai. When our table was ready we were seated at a window table looking out over the river. The restaurant is beautiful top to bottom and the view was spectacular. Randy, our waiter was such a nice guy. He also was very busy but took just the extra few moments to chat with us and help us make perfect dinner selections. I had visited this restaurant many years ago before it was shuttered and then reborn. When the owner, David heard that I had been there (in 1984) he came to our table and sat down for a nice chat. He told us of the history of the building and how he brought it back to life some years ago. He's done a magical job of creating a wonderful atmosphere in a historic building. Winooski is a very cool town. Water Works is top of the list of you plan on visiting. I commented on the friendly atmosphere later as we were leaving to the hostess and she completely and unguardly agreed that David has created an environment where everyone on the staff is happy. The truly love David and that really translates in the dining experience. We left feeling really great about everything. The food was great. The people were great and the place is beautiful. Thanks

My husband and I recently hosted our wedding at Waterworks for about 70 people, specifically in the River House room. It was everything we imagined and stress-free. Venue: The River House room is a hidden gem - but it will definitely rise in popularity quickly!. It has great natural lighting and is filled with many house plants so it is stunning before anything is added. There are so many great places outside the venue as well for your photography team as well. Exceptional Service: Ben, our event coordinator, was amazing and made the planning process a breeze! From start to finish, Ben was attentive, organized, and incredibly helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner in creating our special day. Delicious Food: Guests raved about the food all night long. We served hot & cold passed apps that were a huge hit! A plated dinner service with assigned seats - the staff was excellent and made sure to confirm everyone's meal choice before serving. And the cheesecake dessert... no words. No one left hungry, that’s for sure. Attentive Staff: The Waterworks team went above and beyond. They checked in with us, the wedding party, and even our guests. Whether it was a plate of apps or a refreshing drink, they made sure we had everything we needed. Do not sleep on Waterworks for your wedding day!

Waterworks Food + Drink was the perfect place to host the rehearsal dinner for our son’s wedding. Our event was held on July 4, 2024, in the private River House which is a beautiful venue overlooking the Winooski River. My husband and I had the challenge of planning this special event from Virginia and Ben was the ultimate planning partner. He was experienced and considerate and helped us develop a cohesive plan for the rehearsal dinner. Ben also offered suggestions along the way and helped us improve on our ideas. Attentive to food allergies, Ben helped us make menu choices which allowed ample food options for all of our guests. The execution of the rehearsal dinner was excellent. The food was delicious, and the service was extraordinary. Our guests raved about the beauty of the space as well as the wonderful food and drinks. We even saw the owner get personally involved during the event, which was a nice touch. Although there was an issue in the kitchen with one of our side dishes, it was handled in a timely manner and our celebration continued according to plan. We highly recommend Waterworks Food + Drink for any special event or even an informal dinner out with friends or family.

As true Vermonters and Burlington residents, Waterworks is one of our all time favorite spots to be during any season! When a friend suggested it for our August 2021 wedding we immediately fell in love with the idea. We could not be happier with how our entire day went. The staff was amazing leading up to the day and all night long on wedding day. Sarah Johnson was so helpful with every little detail leading up to the day. We were anxious and overwhelmed, and she was calm and relaxed pre wedding and on the day, which made it that much easier for us to relax! James Bean (a friend and AWESOME server!) worked with my husband and I from the moment we arrived; getting us water, drinks, whatever we needed! He's the best! We spent a lot of time on our decor so it was important to us that this was set up nicely. Sarah and the WW staff did an incredible job with this - everything looked perfect! We wish we could relive the day all over again with our friends and family (who also couldn't say enough nice things about the wedding and how everything went so smoothly!). Thank you Waterworks staff for making our wedding day everything we hoped for and more! It truly was the best day of our life so far!!

Superb food accompanied by gorgeous views and excellent service. Food was fantastic, we return again and again and it's always perfectly prepared and delicious. This time we enjoyed the fall apart short ribs with the red wine reduction, clam chowder, and Caesar salad served with white anchovies that were huge and butter poached lobster tails. Cocktails are served exactly to order. Food intolerances are dietary restrictions are easily accommodated by the chef. The servers are friendly and attentive. The views along the Winooski falls are gorgeous. Book a table along the windows if you want to watch the water flow. If it's late afternoon, you can ask to be either seated facing the sun or with the sun behind you in which case you're looking upstream into the woods as the water flows down. There's a huge amount of high tables for eating at and a lot of seating at the bar. You can also sit outside under umbrellas to enjoy the rush of the water beside you. There are vertical heaters out there to keep you warm even in the cooler months. Fantastic cocktails! Can't say enough about the meals here; no wonder it's so popular.
