Went to RelicRoad Brewing Company on a Sunday afternoon after exploring the petrified forest. The restaurant was busy, but the staff was on top of it. They kept things rolling, tables got sat in a timely fashion, the kitchen pumped out the food and the drinks were served quickly. From our table we could watch it all. They did an excellent job!
We ordered grandma's armadillo eggs to start with, they are cheese stuffed jalapeños wrapped with sausage, breaded, deep fried and served with ranch. They were hot, crispy and fresh. Our jalapeños weren't very spicy but the dish was awesome. It would have been fun to serve with a jalapeño raspberry jam. With happy with this appetizer.
The burgers were very good, we ordered the Diablo Burger medium rare, it came out a touch over cooked (one was medium the other was on the highside on medium well) but was spectacular. The slaw was fresh, creamy and delicious, the green chili was tasty. All in all it was an awesome burger, I'm very happy with the choice.
French fried, were a fail. Floppy, soggy, not fresh or hot.
The Onion rings on the other hand were great, made in house, crispy fresh, hot and delightful.
Definitely choose the onion rings over the fries here. They had some in house potato chips that looked really cool, we did not get to try them.
The hefeweizen was solid, light and lemony. It was a beautiful beer after a day in the sun. It was not heavy on banana or clove accents as some craft hefes are.
The SanTan Juicy Jack is a New England Hazy IPA. It is just what you would expect for a NE hazy and was exactly what I was looking for. Delicious!
The restaurant was a fun place to visit, the staff was awesome, there was awesome classic rock playing, the food was excellent (minus the fries) and I loved all the craft beer choices. I would...
Read moreOn our trip through Winslow Arizona, we had the misfortune of dining at the RelicRoad Brewing Company.
We arrived at 8:12pm and knew what we wanted by 8:15. Unfortunately, we were not seated until 8:26 even though the outdoor table we wanted and we're eventually led to was available from before we arrived.
When we were finally seated, we were given menus but we told the hostess that we know that we wanted. She said that our waitress would be there shortly. It was not shortly.
Once everything was said and done, it took about 45 minutes from the time we arrived until our food arrived. All we ordered was Philly cheese steaks.
They came with some "fresh" chips on the side. Oh, and a dill pickle spear, as well! You can't forget that because it was the highlight of the meal. Don't get me wrong. There was nothing that special about it but, it just wasn't messed up in any way.
I got the Philly cheesesteak "relic style". This means it had provolone cheese and jalapenos on it. There was no other seasoning, to include salt, that I could detect.
My wife got the Philly cheese steak regular style which was Swiss cheese. Again, it had no flavor.
Both of our chips are here to have no flavor than that of overused fryer grease that needed to be changed a while ago. And no way of proving when they change their grease but, it tasted disgusting and the only thing I can think of that accounts for the burnt oil flavor would be that they were not changing their grease regularly.
Both of our sodas, she got the Barq's root beer and I had Coke zero, but they both tasted extremely off. I don't know if the water just tasted weird that was used to make the ice or, if the machines needed to be cleaned, or what. But they tasted way off.
All in all, I would definitely not recommend this establishment to...
Read moreMy uncle eats here regularly. He brought me in today and was very impressed. Waitress was very helpful, presentable, and nice. The food was very good. They have an assortment of Mexican and American food... burgers, sandwiches, tacos, etc. I had their chicken tenders and was not disappointed. The waitress said they make their own batter as well. The chicken was very flavorful and very soft and tender. I had Buffalo and ranch sauce with it. The buffalo sauce was spicy and had some flavor. It wasn't just spicy. The ranch was thick and very flavorful. I was very impressed with the ranch. I would recommend to anyone. The pricing is a tad bit high but you definitely get what pay for here.
11/18/2020 EDIT: I decided to reduce my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars. My grandma called here yesterday and was left on hold for about 10 minutes. She just hung up and tried again but the phone line was busy now. This place lost business yesterday because they couldn't take an order for take-out. I'm sure there are probably others that have called and the same thing happened to them because this isn't the first time this has happened. The food is great, but Relic Road can't take calls for take-out apparently, which is a damn shame.
Update 5/13/2025: The food is very good, but when I order a Diablo Canyon Burger, I get a fork and knife, but yet, the food is served on a piece of paper with a weird metal bowl with no real place to cut the burger. What's the point of the fork and knife if I can't actually use it to cut against a real plate. I understand you got costs associated with using a plate to purchase them and clean them, but still. I feel this is an oversight. I'm updating my review to 3...
