After mostly great experiences at Arigatos for over 27 years tonight was extremely disappointing to say the least. Starting with a 6pm reservation and was not seated until 6:30. The waitress was decent however the cook was not what I was accustomed to and the service was subpar at best. The cook was confused repeatedly as to who ordered what and also cooking orders completely wrong. The chef was using the same spatula for the raw beef on the seafood that was cooking on the grill. He also turned over one of my ginger sauces which spilled all over the table. Accidents happen so that was not the most disheartening part of this horrible experience. The manager(short bald Asian guy) was watching the cook in the middle of the floor with laser focus the entire time (Red Flag) which indicated to the table that he was aware of the issues with the cook. The food did not meet the traditional taste of an Arigatos meal.sadly. The manager came over and I tried to speak with him and was dismissed. The manager was rude and would not hear a word. My suggestion was just to give the cook some more training and I further expressed that the experience was not the best and was Not asking for a discount or free meal for that matter but nearly to just be heard. The Assistant Manager was just as dismissive until the whole table stated the same experience and expressed that the way they treated me was unacceptable and unprofessional. We all still paid in full no one asked for anything but to be heard and it just did not happen. We all came expecting a good experience and wanting good customer service was the only ask. I walked away in disbelief and have decided to not spend over $100.00 on a place that does not respect customers who help keep their doors open. The place has truly went down in service and all staff could use more training to interact with customers. Please let this review help to inform and make all aware of what could happen when you simply want a nice dinner! Needless to say they cannot have any more dollars of my hard earned money. I will not support disrespect...
Read moreThe Arigato Japanese Steak & Seafood House Experience (Dine-In Edition). I made reservations for dinner for two, including myself, online and received an email and text confirmation. I thought this was awesome for them to add an online reservation option. So, I went to the restaurant during my reservation timeframe and was seated not too soon after getting there. I had enough time to wash my hands in the bathroom. The bathroom did appear clean at the time of the visit.
I also had time to order a drink at the bar before being called to the table. Talk about perfect timing! I ordered the Arigato Special, made with gin, triple sec, orange juice, lime juice, and sweet and sour mix. A very refreshing drink, I may say. Once taken to the table, there was no such thing as social distancing. But, of course, I'm vaccinated and boosted, so it was all good for me. I know others beg to differ, but I digress.
I ordered the Shogun Dinner Special that comes with filet mignon, lobster, and a choice of shrimp or scallops, and I ordered scallops. It also came with soup, salad, appetizer shrimp, hibachi vegetables, and fried rice. The ambiance was ok but, I can tell COVID still have a grip on the restaurant industry. The chef did not say much, and the days of tricks over the Hibachi table are gone. However, the food was undeniably good and well seasoned. The server was ok, but the restaurant's automatic 15% service charge added to the bill worked in her favor. Soup and salad bowls lingered, and she refilled drinks sparingly.
So would I go back? For me, the days of going out and expecting excellent service and great food at the same time are diminishing. There are other Japanese restaurants in the area that prepare fantastic food. Some are in restaurants, such as take-out eateries, and others are smaller than Arigatos. Nevertheless, if the showmanship is not displayed, what is the purpose of sitting around the Hibachi table? So, I would go back to Arigatos if asked. However, it is no longer my favorite spot for...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible !!!! I called and they stated they were not taking reservations but the wait would not be bad if we come in the next hour , we went being it was only 4 of us. I checked in at 5:42 pm reason I know exact time I stepped to the side when the hostess said 45 minute wait . I called my husband who was parking to ask if he wanted to wait . I immediately stepped back over and gave her our name at 5:44 . Meanwhile a family of 3 was in front of us . We waited one hour and half, I went to the lady I checked in with and ask how many more until we were called ? She said 2 tables .the family who checked in front of us had already gone a while back and told us while waiting they didn’t have rsvp . They had issues as well and spoke to manager . I waited 30 more minutes 4 tables had been called I went back she stated reservations that were made prior go ahead if walk ins . I said so we keep getting pushed back she said no . My husband spoke to the young male manager and ask how much longer the man immediately was rude beyond words and said did you have reservations? We said no, he said that’s your problem you have to wait . He went to the lady and was moving people around . We waited another 30 minutes because our children really wanted to stay and this was a reward for them we never go . We went back to the lady and ask she said 4 more tables we may not get seated we are no longer taking walk ins I said we have been here well over two hours what do you mean she stated we are busy and my manager makes the call who gets to go first?? We had to leave . I am appalled at this behavior one could have . Never again and I will be sure to spread this to all. Not to mention in the two hours I sat go look at the falling chopped ceilings covered in mold and the cleanliness of the place .
