I came to this restaurant today along with my staff and the service was bad!!!! I am handicapped . Due to my handicap I am in a wheelchair. The hostess was attempting to sit us on the side of the restaurant where people were sitting and there was enough room for us to be seated on this side of the restaurant. However; the waiter instructed her by repeatedly saying “family, family “ and pointing his and waving his hand to take us to the other side of the restaurant where there were no patrons sitter. The hostess stated that she did not know what he was talking about, but proceeded to take us to the other side of the restaurant where no other customers were sitting. My staff politely said to the waiter that the other tables would have been fine. The waiter stated that he was only trying to help, but I truly believe he was being discriminatory against me due to my physical disability and me being in a wheelchair for simple fact that he never gave us a choice as to what would be more comfortable for us as customers and because of his initial approach to the situation. Once we were seated and received our drinks the waiter took a very long time to come back and take our order. Due to us having to wait for so long my staff started to get up from the table to go and find someone on the other side of the restaurant to take our order, but before she could get all the way over to the other side of the restaurant our waiter finally came to take our order. Although he apologized for taking so long, I still felt ISOLATED!!!!!! I truly felt that we were forgotten about. Once we received our food the waiter only came to check on us once. He never asked us if we needed any refills on our drinks or any extra condiments. Our waiter didn’t even bring us our food a waitress that was not assigned to our table did. My staff’s order was over 20 dollars and she gave him forty dollars. He then proceeds to ask her if she needed change back. This was truly a stupid question. I felt like he was trying to be funny. I handed him my debit card and once he returned I held my hand out to retrieve my card, but he over looked my hand and insisted on giving my debit card back to my staff instead of me the person he received it from. My staff politely told him no that’s hers. He said oh okay and then give me my debit card back. However, our food was GREAT, but Carolina Ale House management team needs to make sure that all their staff knows how to respect and treat people with disabilities and the staff working with them upon...
Read moreThis was our first time trying at the Winston salem restaurant. And based off of that experience we will never be back. The hostess was great to start off as she started walking us in our kids decided they wanted to sit outside and she was quick to fix our seating arrangement. We were able to walk through the whole restaurant at this point and they had only a handful of couples at 12 lunch time.. Moving on to ordering within the first 5 minutes we ordered our drinks and 3 kids pizzas as they don't like waiting for the adults to order. Another 10 minutes goes by and we order the rest of our meal including appetizer. And from there the service declined rapidly our waiter came by and asked about refills after 20 minutes (we never got them) and brought out pizza 1 we asked about the other 2 and were told they were coming. He brings out the appetizer and it was stone cold. The kids without pizzas are so hungry the start trying to eat our nachos which had jalapeños all over so that's hard for a child to eat. From start time to now we've waited for pizza 2&3 for over 45 minutes. Waiter then walks out with pizza #2 and it's pepperoni instead of cheese so it's sent back. We waited some more and heard comments from another "waiter" that we get what we get and we just have to deal with it (turns out he was the manager I believe named Dusty) the adults never received our meals we were still missing 2 out of 3 pizzas at an hour and a half of waiting. We ended up having to go elsewhere to eat. Call over the manager who we had to wait on for 20 minutes learn it's the waiter who made the comments and he proceeded to place all the blame on their hostess because she was "mental" and "special needs" she didn't seem to be either of these (the way he said it made us raging mad as it sounded as if he was taking a dig at her) he did not execpt any blame for what was going on in the restaurant and had people walking out left and right. Reading the reviews I'm not surprised now and wish we hadn't wasted our time to be treated so rudely as we are understanding people especially if told hey we are gonna be slow as no one showed for work or we are training new employees. This was never the case. I also want to make a point that regardless of if the hostess has disabilities or not it is not the employers job to go around telling people about her personal information to every customer in the patio section. If I could give a rating for him MANAGER specifically it...
Read moreThere weren't many options at 1130pm to eat after our family member was admitted to the ICU at Forsyth Hospital. We were starving and SO thankful there were options besides fast food! It was surprisingly busy to be so late, so our waitress was overwhelmed but still friendly. We didn't mind....We were just thankful for fresh food and strong drinks! We got two burgers, The Pub Burger and The Double Wester Smash Burger, both with fries and a side of ranch. For me, a great burger is one that the patty is so good it can be eaten by itself, the toppings are piled high and unique, the cheese must be gooey and layed on thick! These burgers checked all the boxes and more! The pickles were even amazing, like how do you perfect a dang pickle? Well, they DID! The whole burger was so big, I had to squish it flat and cut it into quarters! We could've easily shared one meal and gotten full. The fries are fresh, melt in your mouth, yet somehow crispy and flaky. When you dipped them in the homemade ranch...chefs kiss I about hollered out loud..no joke! Every bite of the meal was followed by an exclamation of why this was the best burger we have ever had. Why is everyone sleeping on their burgers? Why has no one told me about this? It's got to be the best kept secret in Winston-Salem! Now onto the craft mixed drinks. Youve heart of Craft Kitchens but what about Craft Cocktails? They have them too! Their drinks don't have pre made mixers, everything is hand crafted with fresh ingredients and in house made mixers. I ordered a Blueberry Lemonade mixed drink and my Hubs had the Strawberry Basil. My drink tasted like summer in a glass, the fresh blueberries floating in the drink were delicious treats, the drink was strong and good to the last sip! The Strawberry Basil is the most unique combo. It's fresh, sweet and had some fizz to it. I loved the basil notes and again the fresh strawberries were yummy to munch on when I could fish one out! Now this would be a fun date spot, family dinner( Tuesdays kids eat for .99), or even having drinks with the boys. It's not a fancy place you'd have a romantic quiet meal, but the food is just as good as those places! We will be back Carolina Ale House, thank you for making our rough night better with a warm meal, fresh drinks and...
