My mate and I arrived at Sleep Inn around 1:15 am, After I received my room 203, I believe, my mate and I went to the room and we both immediately noticed a strong pungent mildew and mold smell, because we have a cleaning business and can recognize such, as if the sheets weren’t dried properly, this is a series violation of health and safety standards and could result on bronchitis and other life threatening sickness I procedure to tell the clerk that we needed to switch rooms because we had been driving all night and needed to get up early so I could not afford to get another hotel at this hour. We had to wait almost 30 minutes because the clerk said that the system has shut down and did not receive our keys to our new room until almost 2 am. The new room, room 217, had a malfunctioning door which took us both and the clerk to realized after standing outside the room door, and going up and down the stairs to readjust the keys for about another 20 minutes. We were finally given another room, room 210, at about 2:15 am, a full hour after we arrived only to notice that the room smelled exactly the same, a pungent mildew mold odor. My mate would not even walk into the room for fear or her health and ultimately had to sleep in the lobby all night. I had to drive down to NC from VA and back the next morning so I had to lay down and rest or fear crashing. I awoke by 6 am and went downstairs to speak with the general manager, Alpesh Patel. Alpesh Patel was extremely unreasonable and rude, stating that the smell we both experienced ( and a few other customers we asked in the hotel) was not real, she could not give us our money back and any slight way and could only give a 20% discount for our next trip. After I spoke to Alpesh calmly for about 5 minutes she became dismissive and even more rude so I pulled my camera out to record the event. Alpesh then told me that my action was illegal because I was on private property, and that she was calling the police. This was by far the most horrible hotel experience of my life, I feel as if the General Manager was uncooperative and dismissive and rude and should have handled herself better. I will be posting this review on Google also, hopefully you all will do something about this.

I am originally from Winston-Salem and we visit friends/family several times a year. This property has good reviews and is about $20 a night cheaper than we we usually stay so we decided to give it a shot. The good--convenient location near shopping and dining. Rooms are attractive and modern. Large walk in shower with great water pressure. Excellent breakfast area complete with biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs. The bad. 20+ people in the parking lot smoking, drinking, talking. The remote control didn't work, even after going downstairs and getting new batteries. Lots of noise all hours of the night from other guest. And I couldn't sleep in the bed. In all our travels, this is the first time this has happened. When getting into bed at midnight, I found several hairs of various colors in the sheets. Sheets themselves were very worn, pilings all over. Then I found a smear of something unidenitifiable on a pillowcase. That was it. I was convinced the sheets had not been changed, so I dozed in the computer desk chair. (Pictures included) Maybe we just got a room with a lazy housekeeper. At any rate, we won't be back.

The room appeared to be very clean and neat. However the customer service was not acceptable. My property manager booked a 3 night stay for my young children and I. My kids are 1 years old and 3 months. I seen a black bug quickly moving across a pillow my 1 year old was sleeping on. I snapped a pic and showed the receptionist downstairs. I kindly asked him " Do you think that this is a bed bug?"He replied by saying that it was just a regular bug. I went back to the room and peeled back the bedding and discovered small red moving dots. These where baby bed bugs. I also seen bed bug shedding. I checked out within hours of being there. I left all our clothes. Only taking my food and baby bouncer. Upon checking out, I showed the receptionist more pics and told him the room has bed bugs. He replied by saying okay. I was NOT offered any accommodations or a apology. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

First all the 2 ladies and the male was very awesome. My family was going through a hard time & decided to stay here Because it was convenient. It was almost 9am the front desk lady come up like and say "we have to get charged a 100 deposit. My boyfriend tells her we don't smoke cigarettes, she goes down stairs and call the room saying we have to go with our kids at night time with my two small children within 20 mins. I still proceeded to say ok because I hate confrontation. My boyfriend had to be at work at 9 so he was late potentially losing his job due to a difficult time..so I knew in my heart that I didn't do anything. The rooms wasn't that big , why in the world would I smoke with my two going children. Crazy that's not all , my boyfriend went down there like I want to speak to the manager. He told them if she thought that then why not come check the room. Cigarette smoke is hard to get rid of . So they still was like leave or call cops. Traumatizing my 2 young children with potentially put out in the cold. & Police in their space for no reason. Back to the story, so I knew we didn't smoke so I told her I would be waiting for the cops to arrive. She responded great their here now.. I said send them on up. When they arrived which was less than 30 mins after she came up. I had my room door propped open so they could come to in like I offered her, which they did. It was 2 officers and they asked the story and asked how long it was since she been here & we said 20-30 mins. They walked around the room. Not one but 2 different opinions, two people smelling. They said we don't smell anything. That they was going downstairs to figure it out see if they can smooth it out. We asked could he speak to the manager instead of her because she obviously had some type of vendetta against us. She said we wasn't suppose to extend due to a previously being told about the complaint of cigarettes. The other lady just came there and did not say anything about that. My boyfriend even went to the front desk 30 mins after the lady came to the room to pay the 3$ we owed due to booking online. Remind you the 5 days we was there we paid daily Since being there due to having to to check out the extended stay due to their 70 day rule. And I was just waiting on my boyfriend to be off to help me move the stuff back. Daily I had interaction with 4 different front desk workers & none of them mentioned any complaint or a note saying I couldn't extend my stay. You would think 4 workers seeing the same account would have caught that or said something. So the cops came back and said they spoke highly of my boyfriend & I . And could tell we was really great people. We literally don't bother anybody. We don't let our kids tear up things. I had my own personal supplies to vaccum and clean. They was just coming out the shower , they had their pj's on waiting for my boyfriend to leave to get in bed. This lady literally had no remorse wasn't trying to hear our side or take the time to come in and check. Honestly when we camne on the hallway smelled like weed, cigarettes & vinegar. Even the elevator. I'm hurt, angry & very upset that this happen. Noone called to apologize, refund my full stay due to this traumatizing event. My 3 year old is terrified that thd police are going to come & he will be out in cold. This lady literally targeted us for no reason. We don't be loud , we come down and get breakfast, my boyfriend works 2 jobs and is sleep while we was there. The kids are trains on a schedule so nails line & it's quiet time while daddy's resting , they are on a strict bed time schedule. I will be reaching out to corporate tomorrow due to not having time. This whole time the lady who judged us & tried to put us out in the cold with our children. Guess should not be treated like that. And had I not had sense things could had been worse for falsely accusing someone rushing their kids. Like they officer said if you been smoking in here for 5 days, he said I can smell good so he would know & no way I coulda got rid of days worth of any type of smoke within 30 mins. It would still be lingering on. I would like to speak with someone higher about this. The whole time she's accusing us. I've walked up on her multiple days sleep, in a brown blanket. Anyone could had walked in the hotel and harmed her. Or someone in a dv situation and is private. They could had just walked past her and I don't want to get myself in legal trouble but I'm going to email it the higher ups the videos on 3 separate times to back our case. Why did she target us , we treated up with respect, you never know what a...

I booked my reservation online and placed a comment in the comment section (since there was no place on the reservation form itself) to notify the hotel that my wife and I (2 persons, no children) were traveling with our 10 pound Yorkshire Terrier and we understood the hotel policy of an additional $25.00 fee to have our pet in the hotel with us.

When I arrived at the hotel they "upgraded" (his words) me to a king room (which I reserved online beforehand) and I asked if they read my comment regarding my pet that was traveling with us. He stated there was no indication in the reservation of a pet. I directed his attention to my comments on the initial online reservation and he said that he saw what I had written and would adjust my bill accordingly.

When we got to our room, it was very nice and comfortable. The only problem was that it was beside the outside door and a light was shining under the door and other guests were entering and exiting throughout the night and this kept disturbing our pet and we did not rest well. Of course our pet was walked when we arrived (after traveling for 5 hours to the hotel) and walked again early in the morning and she did not make any mess but it would probably be best if, as a "pet-friendly" hotel, guests with pets were not placed near outside doors. The main reason I am saying this is that we stayed at a second Choice hotel ten days later and we were placed in a middle room (away from elevators and exits) and our pet slept much better.

I plan to continue to stay at Choice hotels but would just like to have these considerations at least discussed. Maybe there are not many travelers with pets but I chose both of my Choice hotels because they were...
