This is my first time staying at a Hampton Inn. My usual hotels are Residence Inn and Hyatt Place. I decided to stay at this Hampton Inn because of the positive reviews. I looked at the Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton lines of hotels between Winston-Salem and Greensboro because they accept pets, and are hotels that I trust. To my surprise, this Hampton Inn is the only hotel with such great reviews!! I'm so glad that I stayed here. The mobile check in was interesting. This is the first hotel app I've used that allowed me to select the room I want. It gave me all the available rooms on each floor and showed the type of beds in each room - 2 queens or king. I prefer the first floor because I walk my pups often, and there were only 3 rooms all with 2 queen beds. I prefer a king size bed since I don't have that at home. 😁 I also decided to try out the mobile key, but couldn't seem to get it to work on the exterior doors, but work on my room door. The staff is very nice and helpful. Tricia and Lisa were great. They got me the card keys. The first thing I always do after checking into a hotel is to look for the Bible in the room. It's like my security blanket that always makes me feel safe and protected. I got nervous when I couldn't find it in my room. I texted the front desk regarding the Bible, and Tricia responded and she was very polite. The next day, I went to the front desk, and Tricia and Lisa were there. Lisa found out the Bibles. As it turned out, Hilton/Hampton hotels didn't purchase the Bibles and placed them in the rooms. There is a group/organization that travel to the hotel and offer to place a Bible in each room. The reason my room might have been missing one could be that someone wrote in the Bible with personal messages, and the hotel would remove it from the room, or that someone took it. Interesting info. Lisa offered to get me ine, but I didn't want to trouble her anymore than I already did. I met Patrica in housekeeping this morning. She was very nice, too. I had a nice conversation with her. Some of the guests were also friendly. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was in great condition with everything working properly. There are plenty of parking. Huge transport trucks often park in the back side of the parking lot. For those who tip the housekeeping, please make sure you give the tip to the ladies cleaning the room. They have the hardest job, keeping the room clean for the guests. Some hotels have a staff specifically remove all the sheets and bedding before the staff that does the cleaning shows up to clean the room. Often the staff removing the sheets would take the tip and not share it with the staff doing the cleaning. Just something to keep in mind when leaving a tip in the room assuming the ladies with the hardest job would get your...
Read moreThe hotel overall was great. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was really good both mornings. We did not have a great experience with our room. My bed was really noisy, each time i moved or got up for any reason, it was loud enough to wake my granddaughter. Also the ac/heat unit was extremely loud. The hotel was booked so we couldn't change rooms originally. So of course, I expected maintenance to come check the ac unit and the bed(which prob only needed a screw tightened or something simple). The next day after leaving for the ball field since @6:30am and not returning until late afternoon, my granddaughter was exhausted and wanted to go straight asleep (5pm or so).. However nothing had been done in our room. The ac was still extremely loud and upon inspection all it needed was a screw put back in the front panel, and of course the bed was the same. It bothered me more that they hadn't even tried to fix the problem. And then that late in the day wanted us to change rooms. We did not change that late because it really was an imposition by the time they offered. (?6pm or after, and i discussed the issues Fri at ckin, early Sat mornin, and in a text) We had already ordered dinner, my granddaughter was about to shower, and I had already changed and was waiting to shower as well. We would have had to get redressed, packed our bath things, got her uniform that was already hanging to dry, her ball stuff, pillows, blankets, our clothes etc etc.. And then proceed to another room where we would've had to unpack everything to get showers n ready for bed just to repack it before bed to check out at 6:30 am the next morning.. Considering the time and all that would've been involved, I felt that asking us to change rooms was just out of the question. And I couldn't believe they expected that. When I asked for compensation for our room, they did so for Friday nite but not Saturday nite. They justified that by saying we could have changed rooms!! Although changing rooms for Sat was not offered to us at anytime that morning after I mentioned it to the clerk that was on duty at that time or when we first got back in that afternoon. It wasnt offered until later when I realized NO ONE had even been in the room and i received another text checking on how things were and by then it was just way too late in...
Read moreI stayed at this location on July 18th. When I arrived at the hotel I was immediately greated by two very lovely ladies at the front desk. I began to chat with them during the check-in process & found out one of the ladies, Lisa is from Phoenix, where I currently live. The other lady, which I didn't get her name told me her daughter works for the same company I work for. I'm relocating to Winston-Salem with my daughter in August so this was great first impression of the people. Both ladies welcomed me with open arms & made me feel like we'd be friends for years. I'm relocating to join the team at our Corp office but my daughter doesn't have a job lined up yet so they encouraged me to have her apply there. She'd be so lucky if she was able to work with such a great group of people. Having this nice little conversation made me forget how exhausted I was for a few minutes. These ladies provided me with a card & advised me to contact them if I needed anything during my stay. They provided me with bottled water & my key, as well as putting me in a quiet area so I could get some rest. I got to my room & was a bit surprised at how nice the room was. I typically request new bedding & towels because I have a problem with germs but this location was spotless. I slept like a baby. It usually takes me a couple hours to fall asleep when I'm away from home but I'm pretty sure I was out within 30 minutes after laying down. The next morning I got up & went to check out. I was greeted by two other ladies to assist in my check-out. Just like the ladies from the previous night, they were incredibly welcoming and wished me safe travels. If you're in the area & looking for a clean, quiet hotel that is literally 5 minutes from the Mall, I HIGHLY recommend staying here. Thank you to all 4 ladies that I came in contact with on 7/18 & 7/19. It was so refreshing to be treated so kindly in a new city. My daughter will definitely be applying to...
