Hardee’s — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

Tired, my wife & I headed to this Winston Salem, NC Hardees about 1/8 mile away from a Wake Forrest Baptist Hospial Medical Center Dr's appointment that took a 2hr drive from Hillsville,VA, lasted over 2 hrs & required a 2 hr drive home. We went through the drive through & were 3rd in line to order. Total time in line to getting our food was about about 12 - 14 minutes. Service was average as coupon discount & drink size had to be corrected at the window, maybe a new employee? Sandwich had more meat but less cheese than expected. Drink price was double our home medium price of $1 at $1.99 ea with about the same amount of ice vs drink in same size cup. Coupon Big Hot Ham & Cheese price same @ $2.49 ea for up to 2. One star off for requiring order adjustment at window. My voice is deep and hard to understand at most drive throughs & correction is typical. Some get it right, especially if they read the order back for verification before sending you through when sun glare on displays make them impossible to read (NA today) & reading it back again at the window & verifying thats what you're being given makes sure you don't drive away with the order wrong (those get 1 or 2 stars). Ate in the parking lot before heading home. Would recommend stopping here if coming to or from WFBHMC or on I-40 Business (not recommended now, if you can avoid it, with repairs & construction) passing though at meal times, usually has plenty of free parking space anytime we've been if you want to eat in, clean inside & in restrooms. Lack of customer service! This place needs to hire more customer service oriented employees. The cashier that took my order nicely acknowledged my presence as I walked up to the counter to place my order stating that she'd be with me in a moment as she appeared to be working drive-thru as well. I placed my order asking stating "I'd like ten peice chicken strip combo" and the young lady rang me up. I waited patiently for my tenders to cook but was not informed of this wait which would have been nice considering my kids were still sitting in the car. After waiting, the cashier asked me what type of sauce I'd like placing it the bag. I noticed she didn't place fries or ask me about my choice of drink before handing me the bag of ten chicken tenders. Puzzled, I exclaimed, "doesn't the combo come with fries and a drink?" Her response, " The ten piece doesn't come with fries and a drink." I said ok, and politely exited the store. My frustration stems from a lack of attention to detail on the part of the cashier to say, " I'm sorry sir but the ten piece doesn't come in a combo. Would you like to add a fries and drink?" There seemed to be no concern from her that her customer asked for a combo. She couodnhave even restated the order before cashing out which she didn't. Rather than make a potential situation out of it and argue, I choose to just leave the restaurant given the appearance and class of the establishment. This Hardee's on 1590 W. 1st Street is the WORST RESTAURANT EVER! I have been to this Hardee's many of times trying to forget the TIME'S before, willing to just order my food and go on. Well Mr Stewart the manager has a problem ever since I met him about 5 years ago. I'm sorry that you are short staffed that doesn't mean you can lock the restaurant doors any time you feel like and open when certain people come to that restaurant. He also lets the back sandwich line employee make food for Hardee's without gloves! He did ask him to put on gloves , eventually the employee did but not after staring me down ! So i asked for a refund because I felt some type of way because of the way the employee was looking at me! There have been several other situations worse than this. I will gladly tell my side to anyone who will listen. Better Business Bureau has been contacted and so has corporate office CKE RESTAURANTS HOLDING INC.. So beware if he doesn't use gloves or just one... Everywhere his hand has been is on your food. Think he remembers to wash his hands after the restroom, or coughing,? Buyer's remorse!...
