In the past I have enjoyed the food at this restaurant, but I am so disappointed with the food that I have been ordering via takeout. For example, the food is extremely greasy and overcooked, especially the fried oysters, hushpuppies, and the french fries. There need to be cameras at the station where the food is prepared because I have heard several workers talking loudly, and I heard an employee using profanity where the food is being prepared. Secondly, the cole slaw and tarter sauce appear to be old, and I've had to discard them for fear of getting food poisoning. Thirdly, the employees who answer the takeout food are very rude and seem to be impatient with me, as I place my orders. I am not one who plays the, "Race card," but the best customer service that I have received when I placed my order was a Caucasian young lady, who is very professional and pleasant, and she would always thank me for my orders. The other employees need to pattern after her, because they are so rude!! Also, on several occasions I had to check my takeout orders because something is ALWAYS missing!! Fourthly, when I order a combination that includes fried oysters, they have been over cooked, and I would have to tell them that I don't want them cooked so hard; plus, there have been less oysters in a combination that I had to place some of my oysters on my clients order to make sure that he has an ample amount. Why is this restaurant so stingy in satisfying its customers? My client is a prominent citizen in this city and it is so unfortunate that the restaurant on Stratford Road had to close, as he thoroughly enjoyed the dinners there, and I have to get his orders, whether it's fish or whatever at the Mayflower restaurant on Peters Creek Parkway. By the way, it's not the oysters that he used to enjoy at Mayflower, he used to like the flounder and deviled crab cakes as well. I will be finding another seafood restaurant for my client, because Mayflower restaurant on Peters Creek is not what it used to be, and that's not a good thing. I wish that I could now give it a zero rating. Lastly, change the management and the workers in the takeout area. Your rating is a 90, which is a great concern. That...
Read moreWent earlier this evening to eat with my mother. I ordered the 3 item fried combo (scallops, oysters, and boiled popcorn shrimp) scallops were excellent, oysters were good exception of super small and the boiled shrimp were completely inedible. I understand sometimes things go out of sorts especially during the pandemic and work shortage of employees but tonight really took the cake with issues. My mother ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I ordered a salad which I requested to be served prior to my seafood coming out. When I originally placed my order the waitress stated that we do NOT have boiled shrimp ?!?! So I made the assumption she was new and pointed them out on the menu to her. I waited 35 minutes for my salad. My mother's mozzarella sticks were apparently never cooked. Salad comes out 2 mins prior to my meal. This is after asking the waitress 3 times where my salad was over the 35 mins. My mom asks her when my salad arrives where her cheesesticks are. No response. Food comes out and my mom reminds her of the cheesesticks. She responds they're still cooking. This is now 40 mins after placing our order. My mom tells her to cancel it. Food comes out and the boiled shrimp have been microwaved. They're hard, dry, and flavorless. I can definitely as most can tell when seafood has been microwaved. I explain in part to the lady at the register some of the issues so they can be corrected when checking out and basically was given what I felt as they didn't care. I've been a patron of Mayflower for 30+ years. Sad to say I think my money will be better spent towards competition that has their patrons in their best interest rather how much money...
Read moreIf I could give no stars i would. I went with a coworker for lunch today. First, we were the first people there right at opening and the lady who unlocked the door didn't smile, say arguing or even open the door.... she just unlocked it and walked off. Then she told us to "follow that guy" while pointing at a man walking away with menus to seat us. Then we both ordered water with lemon and the server, who was more interested in her phone brought us back waters with lime. I asked for some lemon and she says they don't have any and stated that they were bad this season..... there's nothing wrong with the lemons at the store this season, just saying. Then we order, the waitress brought out our food but only after everyone else's who came in AFTER us and ask we ordered was the fried lunch special. Then the waitress disappears to the back for at least 15 minutes, never coming to check on the status of the food, which would have given me the opportunity to let her know that one of my pieces of fish was rubbery and over cooked. She finally returns, I tell her about the fish, she doesnt even apologize and says simply "do you want a another piece?" To which I replied, no. When we checked out she didn't even take anything off the bill for the uneaten fish, i asked for the manager and the lady told us our server was the manager so i didn't even bother explaining anything, because that explains alot. I will NEVER go back. Horrible...
