World of Swirlz “Italian Water Ice & Ice Cream” — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

I've never left a bad review and it breaks my heart to do so. Today, My family and I came Swirlz about 10mins before the store was due to open. The hours online say Friday's at 4pm. We arrived at 3:50pm. The sign on the window however said Friday, 2pm. I checked the door. The shop was still locked/closed. We continued to wait. By 4pm, we didnt see anyone at the door. After about 5 additional minutes, I attempted the door again. Not only was the shop still closed, but the lights were off, no one was present and the light in the back of the store was flickering eerily. I returned to my car and by then, another family had pulled up beside us. I asked them jokingly if they were here to open the store. To my surprise, the man's face looked visibly disappointed as he explained that he and his family had made multiple attempts to come to Swirlz. Adding that "they could never catch them open either." This surprised and saddened me greatly especially since this was our first experience. I called the stores number before we left, to which it took me to a basic voicemail. No business line or recording. I was looking forward to finally enjoying an Italian icee after not having one for 3 years since moving to NC from NJ/NY, where they are heavily popular. I love the variety of items and atmosphere of this little shop! Very nice staff and games to play in the sitting area. They have creative options that are all unique. The Italian Water Ice is very referencing and great for summer! And the price is worth the amount you receive.

However, I had to take back on star for a couple reasons. They have a lot of flavors advertised on the wall but actually only have a select few out to serve. Which is a bit confusing. Of the selection available you are sure to find something tasty! But just a bit odd. And since we have run into that issue of a usual flavor not being available, we decided to try and call ahead before making the drive. However, when you call the number listed on the Google profile no one picks up. We tried a few times and then just decided to hope for the best.

I came across this place today and my family and I just had to try the Italian Ice. We go to Myrtle Beach quite often and always look for the Ricciardi's Italian Ice when we are there because it is so delicious. World of Swirlz did not disappoint and tastes very similar!!! They have so many flavors to choose from, which is a good problem to have. I highly recommend trying them out to see for yourself. We were even lucky enough to meet the owner while we were sitting outside enjoying our treats. He is a great guy and his business will be around a long time, judging by his awesome employees on staff and awesome...
