I came here today with my mom and 2 yr old son to have brunch. I had a great experience with the girl who took our order as she was very helpful but unfortunately things did not go well after that with the other server. As we were getting our food placed on the table, the server knocked over my completely full cup of matcha which spilled all over the table and completely drenched my son’s shoes, part of his clothes and on the soup. In my and mom’s opinion, the server went about the situation in a very disingenuous kind of way. As I am someone who completely understands people make mistakes, I also think that there’s a way to go about it afterwards and she didn’t really give us much. My mom had to suggest to move tables (because our food was getting cold which we literally hate) as the server really didn’t say anything other than it was going to take a bit to clean the floor. I always try to be super mindful to move cups and/or things that my son could spill so I’m not going to lie, it was extremely annoying that it came from the server. She did get me a new matcha and a few napkins later on but that’s about it. It was extremely inconvenient and more than anything… she didn’t even seem sorry. Though I did hear her say it once .. I felt like she was more worried about not making it seem like she spilled it. Total speculation but it didn’t feel genuine. If she showed some concern and actually offered helpful suggestions to make our experience better, then to be completely honest, I wouldn’t even be writing this review but all she really did was clean the mess she made and gave me a new matcha.. which is the bare min. As a small business owner myself, I know that things can happen but holding yourself accountable if you mess up a paying customer’s experience is everything and that was not done here. Of course I was annoyed with what happened but I was even more annoyed with how the girl went about it. I didn’t say much to her because I feel bad for people when I really shouldn’t but I was so pissed off. Didn’t want to make a scandal esp because my son was such a champ and didn’t cry and was just hungry. When we finally got to sit and eat, the food itself was fine and we did our best to move past that but not sure if we will ever go back. Hopefully management will take this into consideration to discuss better ways to handle mishaps as I would like to see this business thrive regardless of our experience.
Giving service a 2 because of the girl...
Read moreVery disappointing experience from a place that seemed appealing.
I went in to order a full meal and walked out with an iced tea and a bottle of water instead. After waiting in line I approached the counter and was completely ignored by the person that took the previous order, then she just walked away. After about 2 more minutes of standing in front of the counter another server came to the counter to help. I was frustrated after being ignored for so long that I decided to be safe and just order drinks to go.
I handed the cashier a $50 bill for my goods and was asked by the cashier if I had anything smaller. I did not. She then made sure it was not a counterfeit bill and than asked me again if I had anything smaller. I did not. She then walked away and brought back a manager and I was asked again if I had anything smaller. I let her know as well that I did not. She then told me that I couldn't purchase the drinks if I didn't have a smaller bill or a card. I let her know that I work nearby, and perhaps she could write a note and I would come back later with a smaller bill, or a card. I also asked her why paying for my order with cash was an issue where she responded that they are moving away from cash. I asked her why their desire to move away from cash affects me, where she responded that moving away from cash affects everyone, then proceeded to tell me (in front of the cashier) that the reason they don't want to use cash is because of employee theft.
She then opened the register where there was an abundance of cash and change visible exposing that there is no issue with accepting cash at their location as they were obviously doing so for the most part of the day. So, was it that they didn't want me and my money, because that is exactly what it felt like, and I'm happy that there are so many wonderful and customer focused businesses in Downtown Winter Garden to experience and enjoy other than this cafe.
I was going to spend my entire $50 at the store but decided not to after the treatment, and spent it at another location with much...
Read moreEdited Review (8/2/2025) 5 ⭐️: After we left our previous review, the owner (Ashley) reached out to us personally to get our story and see how they could make it right. After a discussion, we agreed to come back in when we had the time. The experience the 2nd time was MUCH BETTER. The food was the way we remembered (I did try their Blueberry French Toast and thought it could've been a lot sweeter, but that was a personal preference. My wife had their Steak sandwich and LOVED it). The quality of the food was better, the atmosphere was more homey and relaxed, and the customer service was 20 times better. Thank you so much, Three Birds, for going out of your way to own up to the experience we previously had and to rectify the mistakes that were made. We will definitely come back again as regulars.
Previous Review (March 2025) 2 ⭐️: We have been going to Three Birds Cafe for years. It's been one of our favorite spots for breakfast food and coffee. We've never had a bad experience until now.
I ordered the Ultimate Breakfast sandwich with truffle fries. We got the fries for our son, but he wouldn't eat then because they had a weird aftertaste. The sandwich with pretzel bun I received was burnt, unsalted and hardly edible. The food isn't what led to this negative review. It was the service we were treated to.
When I brought up the points I mentioned before, they said they changed the truffle oil it was cooked in and that it wasn't burnt and that's how the pretzel bun looks. They apparently receive a different one and that this one is gluten free. They gave off the impression that it wasn't them, it was me who was the issue, even though the bun was basically black on the bottom.
I didn't need them to do a refund or anything, but a little sympathy and empathy goes a long way. I know the pretzel bun was gluten free previously, so then were they lying before? We won't ever know for sure. Hopefully this was a one time occurance, but I know my family won't be eating there again. Not worth the money spent if the food quality and customer...
