Amazing atmosphere - this small railway Museum, packed from wall to wall with railway artefacts. Extraordinary photographs of the people who forged the railway through Florida’s 1800’s difficult terrain of mosquito and alligator infested swamps! Maybe one day there will be a train standing at the platform....maybe one day. The gentleman who looked after the museum was so interesting full of stories and information, he really took you back in time to thoses days of forging through the wilderness. Along with the extensive and absolutely wonderful railway fixtures and fittings of external railway parts, model railway and interior restaurant dinning crockery and cutlery, plates depicting George Washington which really gave you the atmosphere of the railway back then. Next time we are in Florida we would love to come back for another visit. I bought a really nicely made railway drivers stripy hat, which my husband will wear with pride in England. Read moreThe museum is clearly very interesting it seems to be run on contributions and volunteers. The museum is loaded with items the museum would benefit from being a larger building. Of course this could be developed to create an impressive tourist attraction for the Winter Garden and Central Florida. There seems to be a considerable amount of land available to build. In addition it may be viable to get some track laid and get some old locomotives carriages etc even a miniature railway for the children could be a big crowd puller. To achieve this I suggest donations from railway operators state and Disney (this could be an additional reason for people to visit the area and ultimately visit the various parks. Not to mention that it would demonstrate their intention to be good neighbours to the local community).
