My wife and I visited X Sushi after seeing a few Instagram posts, videos and pictures that were very alluring. We then followed up by reading several Google reviews which were overall positive, so we decided this place was worth a visit. We do have fairly refined tastes in sushi, and have enjoyed eating at Michelin star award winning sushi restaurant, Kadence, for example. We decided to share a sampling of many things off their menu rather than just order individually. We started our meal with a delicious appetizer of Salmon Taro Tar Tar ($55) which was very yummy. I give it a good 8 out of 10. I do wish the portion was a bit larger for two people to share, but over all was very satisfied with this appetizer. We then ordered the Salmon Carpaccio, which was over all fresh, and visually pleasing, but too salty. I give this dish a 4 out of 10. We followed that with the most expensive appetizer they have ($135) and were overall disappointed. The scallops (5 pieces) were over cooked, and cold. The shrimp (5 pieces) was over cooked and too salty. The lobster tails (4 small) were over cooked by a long shot. And the oysters were too salty (5 oysters). I give this appetizer a disappointing 2 out of 10. Following that we ordered the Otsu ($18) which was fairly bland. But they added some fresh ground wasabi on the side that helped the flavor profile a bit. Over all would give this app a 4 out of 10. Next up we tried the “Bomb”, which was a slice of wagyu beef atop a ball of sushi rice, adorned with a quail egg and caviar. This was absolutely delicious. But you only get one piece. We ordered one for us both. ($16). I give this dish a 8 out of 10 for flavor and presentation. And finally we shared two deserts. The first one I will note here was the chocolate mousse. It was a bit grainy when you first put it in your mouth, but then it fluffs up on your tongue and melts. It was delicious. But probably not for everyone. I rate this a 9 out of 10 for a yummy and unique desert mousse. ($8) Next we ordered an “Alaskan” which is a light and airy key lime and whip custard cake. It was very small. I wish the portion was more like a regular size piece of cake. But the flavor was wonderful and unique. I really enjoyed the flakey wafer style cracker that came atop it, and on the side, that gave it a nice crunch. Overall. The food was mediocre at best, and the desert was lovely. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere was chic and modern. This restaurant is definitely striving to be a high end Sushi spot with our bill coming to a cool $352 for two people with a tip, and the food just was not up to par. They have the right ideas and I hope they can make adjustments to improve the overall food. There were options that were delicious, but others costly and disappointing. We won’t be returning unfortunately.

X sushi is exactly what Winter Garden needed! X sushi is not only a sushi restaurant, but a dining experience from the moment you walk in the door. The ambiance in the restaurant and decor is noticeable as soon as you walk in the door. You would never expect that from the location, but it is a hidden gem. Very contemporary and perfect for any date night. X sushi offers fresh wasabi, which we have not found at any other restaurant in the Orlando area. Our server freshly grated the wasabi root itself at our table and offered us more as we enjoyed our rolls. Natural wasabi has a pepper taste and is nothing like the “wasabi” you get at other sushi or competitor restaurants. The ginger here is also made in house and is perfect for cleansing you pallet in between rolls and dishes. Hands down the best volcano roll we have ever had. First off, it was served immediately as it was cooked. Temperature was perfect. Chefs use fresh ingredients and fish shipped in fresh, never frozen and topped it off with real krab, instead of krab delight, making this an experience in itself. We also tried the ultimate spicy tuna roll which had a beautiful blend of salt, acidity, and texture from the bube are which made this stand out from other spicy tuna rolls. The chef sent us some salmon belly hand rolls and our waiter educated us on their barrel aged soy sauce which they age for 2 years and which elevated the taste for a beautiful pairing. The quality of the salmon was perfect and melted in your mouth. Our favorite roll was the Otsu roll, which was recommended by our server. The torched medium rare salmon ok top accompanied by the truffle garlic aoli on top was simply like nothing we have ever tasted before. This roll is so different and was great as our last roll to finish off a spectacular dinner. If I could rate X sushi higher than 5 stars I would. Between the ambiance, fish quality, and service (knowledge on menu, attentiveness) my husband and I can’t wait to come back and look forward to trying new things next time!

Scallops Carpaccio $18 - Scallops and fruits are fresh but got covered up with miso honey, which I think it dominated the main character of the dish. Carpaccio suppose to have citrus I suppose. This is More like miso scallops. Very small portion for the price. 12 pcs salmon tasting $37 - FYI Salmon nigiri came with dark brown blood line. Im okay with it, some don’t. The sauces with nigiri topping were great. Although Sushi Rice was tasteless and mushy. Nigiri pcs has fallen apart even before dipping into the soysauce bowl. Claimed to be a Caviar most likely turned out to be just a black tobiko, I could be wrong but Caviar has it own taste definitely what they served. Salmon tataki extremely thick with sesame seeds all over. Lastly, Salmon king “Hosomaki” roll. Only if Chef knows what’s the word “Hosomaki” means. Overall taste okay but overpriced plate. Salmon sear with oyster sauce & sake $27 - About 8-9 oz of grilled salmon. To me it looked like a miso honey and furikake rice seasoning. Didn’t taste sake at all? Perfect cook though. Fried rice came with it was bland. Plus they use long grain for Japanese fried rice and Broccoli in it too. Not sure what in the fusion they doing here. Pros - Very modern ambient - Plenty parking - Accept walk-ins - Attentively service Cons - Way way Overpriced - Small size dining room - Cheap wooden chopsticks for $$ plus menu items, plates and everything else is nice. - Very loud music - Chef not using gloves when preparing food - Overall taste Make sure you ask for wasabi and ginger. They don’t come with the dish.

First of all these people are disgustingly rude. My husband got there at 9 last night to place an order not knowing where to go he sat at the bar. They looked at him in absolute disgust because he was in his filthy work clothes my husband makes $1,000 a day they were like you can't sit here you need to move he said well I would like to place it to go order so they took his order and slam the receipt down in front of him and said you pay so he slammed down all of his cash that he had on him and gave them a very Hefty tip on top of that. The food

Please go to poke burre in winter garden instead this disgusting overpriced fish was nothing special and I've had better in groveland. It's a real shame you treated my husband like you did when he has and makes more money than you ever will. The next time a hard working filthy man walks in your restraunt to buy your nasty overpriced food maybe you should show the working man a but more respect. Don't reply either it's all on your bar camera what you did and how you did it. YOUR RESTRAUNT IS NOT WORTH it!

Edited they never told my husband there was any other place to order food they flat out said YOU CAN'T SIT THERE AND HE KINDLY SAID I JUST NEED TO PLACE A TOGO ORDER. I LOVE how the person who replied tried to save face these people were DOWNRIGHT NASTY AND STUCK UP TO MY HUSBAND. my friend all know not to give this place business and there's way better sushi places the food literally tasted fishy and disgusting. If you choose to go here I feel for you because I'm leaving the most open and honest review possible. Sushi x is A HORRIBLE...
