If there is one thing u need to know about this food demon is that he works entirely too much."But what can I say?" Restaurants aren't cheap. Often my gluttony & work schedule interact poorly Monday-Wednesday I work from 5:30-2:30 p.m. as a hospital transporter.& Wednesday-saturday from 8:00 6:00 am I'm a sleep tech.Which brings us to today. So as you could imagine Thursday mornings are rough for yours truly. On this particular Thursday at 6 am the soulmate was in need of "us" time & this Pudgy lucky to have anyone especially someone like her dutiful boyfriend that I am. acquiesced. it was agreed that due to the time & our current locations Starbucks or as she calls it "starbies" would be the logistical best option. So off I tore 30 minutes opposite my final destination for a coffee with the girlie. When I arrived she had already parked. we walked hand in hand sensual thoughts of a large Carmel moch frap with not one but two shots of espresso bled into my frontal cortex an entire day's worth of calories per serving! the energy that's to come the sweet caffeine i happiness that only the overpriced corporate corner drug peddler offers! I was ready. I walked up to the side entrance & jerked the side door preparing my nostrils to fill with those all too familure & all too alluring scents. Only to be met with resistance."Locked"as we walked to the front entrance we were met with a friendly face. "Sorry pick up only" Dejected I thanked her & trudged to my better half's passenger seat to game plan the next step. She looked at me with pity seeing the wariness in my eyes & suggested "egg haven" lacking the will to communicate I grunted exited car & took several unsteady steps to my car. As I approached this second location I observed my surroundings.Oh sweet readers like Quasimodo rope swinging an unconscious Esmeralda onto the rooftops of Notradame. I shouted "sanctuary!" The exterior & interior were yellow not unlike a certain short order breakfast chain, Frequented by many a weary traveler. I parked, rejuvenated I hastened to the entrance. It was all there beautiful & charming in its simplicity no frills nothing fancy, inside & outside seating a few tvs to catch the news & a menu to satisfy your average breakfast goer. This is a no-nonsense temple of recollection of the night before or preparedness for the onslaught of the coming day. Old timers talking shop shift workers taking the edge off & a lonely elderly man probably been coming here for decades with his late wife & now just comes here out of habit & above average coffee. We snagged a booth. A smiling southern bell of a waiter approached us. Welcoming, polite but a "don't start nothing won't be nothing" aura that could be observed from Mars. "Two coffees please" "bam" a decent cup of Joseph. She ordered eggs Benedict I either thought or murmured under my breath. "Bouche. I had a breakfast burrito. We ate in mostly silence. The food was far above par the wait staff was extremely attentive and the bill didn't hurt. I'm giving egg haven 5 lonely widowers out of 5 follow for more @...
Read moreWalking in for the first time, you are not sure where to go or what to do to get seated. Everyone (staff) is buzzing around until someone makes eye contact and says something to you. They ask how many they scan the room and point to an available spot that is available or being cleaned to be available. It was 2 of us. Once seated a server comes over immediately asking for your drinks. Water no ice with lemon on the side is my go to beverage, my friend had the same but with ice. I admit I am a bit of a water snob but I will drink most water if the taste isn't horrible.. The water here was horrible.... Orange juice please. Not fresh squeezed, from a gallon jug but it will do. I ordered Steak and eggs medium and over medium with crispy home fries with onions, my friend ordered some kind of breakfast burrito wrap. The food was delicious. Fresh and Hot, didn't sit in the window waiting, hot like from the grill to the plate to the table hot... That was the best part, bravo!. The server even asked if I wanted butter on my bread that came with the meal, most places don't even give you an option, don't know if that was just the server or the standard but I liked it, a point for them there. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. We decided since it was almost noon we would take a dessert to go, chocolate silk pie, coconut cream pie or banana cream pie were the options. We chose chocolate. It was nothing to right home about. Kind of just a store bought pie, wasn't worth it. All in all The freshly made food was terrific. Will return for that, the other store bought items I'll go to Walmart and get a better one. Very pleasant server. You win a...
Read moreWe’ve been here multiple times, and generally there is decent service with decent diner food. But, today we got to see their true colors. From the moment of checking in we were met with rudeness, unsure of the process for checking in, no communication or acknowledgment before or after, and only after asking 3 times were we told they were working on a table inside (despite us requesting eating outside). Once the table was ready, instead of letting us know, someone banged on the window to get our attention and then waited on us to come inside to tell us. The area arranged had the seating set up so that there was not enough seating to sit together (we were a party of 9). Because this was the first time our adopted daughter was meeting her extended family, we did not want to separate the kids from the adults. When we requested to have the table moved closer, we were told that that would be a fire hazard and that was too much of an inconvenience, so we decided to go somewhere else. As we were leaving the woman we had been speaking with made every effort to make us feel bad and show how we had been an inconvenience for simply wanting to be seated together.
There was no sense of customer service or clear communication. Needless to say, this instance is one where we will not be returning and a horrible first experience for our daughter meeting her...
