RKY Seafood Market — Restaurant in Winter Haven

Are used to like this place, having bought most of my seafood there in a few years that I’ve lived in Winter Haven. But, today changed everything. I went in to purchase some fish and a couple crabcakes for a total of approximately $30, and I was told they were going to charge me extra to use my credit card.

I’m sorry, that’s not going to happen. Ever. Their prices are high enough, I realize that they are a small business, and I prefer to support small businesses, but sometimes there comes a point where you’re better off just going to Publix. I’m not going to pay a penny extra so that they can actually save money by not having to prepare a bank deposit and go to the bank on a daily basis to deposit the money. My husband and I visited the RKY Seafood Market recently from Lake Wales because our fish market closed. We are so glad we did! We are originally from the southeast coast of Florida where fresh fish is common but I have to say that the yellowtail snapper and mahi were the freshest and best fish that I have ever tasted! We even had to freeze a few pieces because we bought so much and when we had it 2 weeks later it was still unbelievably delicious! The owner also gave us some bonus scallops to try and they were better than any restaurant scallops which were melt in your mouth amazing! I have been shopping here for several years and buy seafood from them at least once a week. I have never had one single bad piece of fish or anything else for that matter. The owner Raul is super friendly and knowledgeable. They always have a nice variety and extremely fresh fish. I think it is the best seafood market in the area hands down. I would highly recommend RKY for the person looking for seafood that is a big step up in quality & selection than what you will find at a local grocery store. ...
