Our Valentine's dinner experience at Hannibals/Chez Vincent was nothing short of disappointing. Despite my boyfriend's reservation, our evening started off on the wrong foot. Upon arriving, the hostess brushed me off not once, but twice, before acknowledging our presence. It was disheartening, to say the least. As we were finally seated, the service didn't improve. Our server treated us with a dismissive attitude, as if we were children. (We are a rather young couple, but we both have well-paying jobs and have enough money.) The prefixed menu, which was not advertised anywhere online, left us with no choice but to stay and endure the underwhelming meal to avoid a cancellation fee. The food itself was a letdown. Bland flavors, clearly frozen vegetables, and a hefty price tag of $80 per person for a meal we wouldn't have chosen otherwise. The filet mignon was overcooked for me and undercooked for my boyfriend. The seafood pastry was subpar, and the salad was simply sad to look at. To add insult to injury, the lack of attention from the staff was glaring. I sat with an empty water cup for an extended period, while nearby tables received prompt service and were provided with water to pour themselves. No one bothered to check on us, despite our server having only a few tables to attend to at the time. The only silver lining was the unexpected dessert, which wasn't listed on the menu. But even that couldn't salvage the overall dismal experience. Hannibals failed to meet even the most basic standards of hospitality and culinary excellence. Our $170 meal felt like an overpriced snack, and I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone. What was meant to be a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner together at a fancier restaurant than we’re used to turned out to be a major disappointment and quite...
Read moreThis was my wife of 24 years and my very first outing, in our new cities, new downtown hipster upscale, ritzy area. And we cannot have been more pleased! Hannibal's on the square and the French restaurant attached, which unfortunately was not open because it was, late Sunday night, when we arrived, was an amazing experience with handcrafted cocktails and desserts at a very low price. Furthermore since Uber was price surge charging because of spring break in Orlando and we just wanted to go home on a $10 Uber ride, Uber happened to be $40 to $50, so the manager himself drove us home for five bucks gas and a handsome tip to the waitress Tara! What a night it was perfectly chilly but not too cold and my wife and I being from South Florida and Texas sat outside and enjoyed every minute of our free time together, that is since we could not get our teenagers to go do anything fun with us ...so we made our own fun. And was it perfect, wow very impressed! We will definitely be returning and recommending. The espresso martini and the Hannibal are definitely the two cocktails you should try whether it be alcoholic or not, and the triple chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle and vanilla ice cream on the side, was to die for, since it was late and the kitchen was closed and the creme brulee was not pre-made thank God. It has been probably two and a half years since we had a date night and it was well worth it thank you Hannibals, thank you Tara and thank you to the manager, whose name I'm awful with remembering for the wonderful ride home, it was truly an above and...
Read moreI had come here once before and enjoyed my meal well enough to return again last night. However, this will be my last time dining here. The only compliment I can make is about the meal itself, which was solid. Every other facet of my experience was disappointing. The Negroni was especially weak despite its inflated price; this has been a recurring issue for me and other friends drinking here. Yet, the lowlight of the meal was the service. Our server was the most inattentive staff member I have ever experienced! After she initially tried to rush our order, she then simply vanished. It seemed that her friends were dining there since she spent the majority of her time chatting with folks at one table while ignoring us (and others) completely. After we finished our meal, we waited an inordinate amount of time to receive the bill … and even longer to pay it. Thankfully, another team member eventually noticed we were motioning to pay and got her attention. She brought the bill, and although I immediately placed my card on the table for her to process as she stood there, she disappeared once again. Some 40 minutes after finishing our meal, we were able to pay and leave. Paying this waitress to socialize while ignoring customers is unacceptable, and I blame management as much as her for this poor level of service. With other restaurants in the area, there is no...
