I’ve found a disturbing pattern around dining the United States where higher quality food in sensible portions seems to be cheaper in “nicer” areas like winter park. People perceive it to be more expensive but it’s actually cheaper and healthier with smaller portions if you step back and check the prices. I don’t know why this is, maybe just that we are trained to desire quantity over quality. I was surprised at how affordable a nice meal was with the parents as long as we didn’t splurge on wine and desserts. When I was younger I used to think winter park was expensive but it really isn’t it you order smaller meals (and since most of us are office workers or even use machines if you work in construction, who needs more than 700 calories per meal?) it’s a tough problem to tackle for sure, but when I revisit winter Park I’m surprised at how much nicer and less loaded with sugar the food is, and how ill blow my bank account worse when I’m treating my parents to a meal at the...

I LOVE downtown Winter Park! Restaurants & coffee shops, candy stores, Polasek statues dotting the scenery, grafitti that should be put on a canvas - colored - & submitted to the Winter Park Art Festival (yes, you), Central Park with all of its greenery & BEAUTIFUL flowers... and best of all - shopping! I especially love to visit around ANY holiday just to look at all of the wonderful window displays. Such a hospitable community - there is always some kind of event happening... the Saturday Farmer's Market, the July 4th parade, the Morse Museum showcasing pieces in the park, Christmas decorations lining Park Avenue... & let's not forget the BEAUTIFUL rose garden surrounding the iconic peacock fountain (perfect for a romantic date, marriage proposal, or first kiss...). Get yourself to downtown...

charming, relax and safe. A great place to do what is impossible in downtown Orlando: simply walking in empty or busy streets, without security stress. Nice cafés and small yet upscale eateries and restaurants. Beautiful mansions off main street. Charming (air conditioned) train station to Orlando and elsewhere. Morse Museum a must, even for blasé Europeans. The Rollins College campus is a great place, be aware that campus security might ask you "how can I help you"(= do you have a legitimate reason to be here? Strolling there is acceptable).
