My wife stopped in here a year ago for a fish taco and loved it and tonight, when we were at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby and looking for a place to go for dinner, she remembered it fondly. So down to Winter Park we went. And I was really surprised. I mean, this is a strange place. Pepe Osaka? Mexican + Asian = ???

Well, now I know. I'm from San Antonio. I feel like I know Mexican food and tacos pretty well. We've traveled in China, too, and I know a little bit about Asian. But I've never experienced anything as interesting as this.

My wife ordered fish tacos, which she assures me were as delicious as they looked. Me, I took a risk and ordered the spicy steak tataki bowl, not knowing what to expect. It was fantastic. As I explained to the manager when he came by (always a sign of a really well-run restaurant by the way), I like bourbon. I like the rich flavors lighting up my various taste buds. Well that's what the spicy steak tataki bowl was like: twenty different flavors, all of them delicious, each asking for my attention, yet all working together beautifully. I've never eaten Asian food OR Mexican food like this. I need to go back to try the other dishes. But this one was a home run with fireworks.

Service was as good as the food. Our server was Luciana. Ask for her if you can. She helped me pick my dish and my drink and she was right on. I had a Mezcal Coin Margarita which was another discovery for me: I was a little worried about the tajin on the rim of the glass but shouldn't have been. Very delicious accompaniment to the steak tataki. And we had a special orchata + tequila beverage for dessert. The most unique and one of the most delicious desserts I've ever had.

I hope I'm being clear: I really really liked this place.

P.S. The restaurant is just a modest shop in a little strip center. Don't be fooled. It looks so ordinary but it's anything but. I hope you're meal will be as great...

My family and I go to Pepe's a lot. I tell every tourist I see to go there. We celebrate family miletones at Pepe's, birthdays, anniversary's, graduations. It has been a great place for years. Nope, not any longer. We recently went in for dinner with family visiting from Mexico. It is understandable that a family of 8 will take a while to get a table. We waited for an hour, then I spoke with the host and he realized that there was an available table that would seat us. We sat down and waited 30 minutes then had to go and get someone to take our order. She was extremely rude and had no interest in serving us. She took our drink orders and walked away before we could order appetizers. 20 minutes later, I had to go up to the bar and confirm out orders which were waiting there to be served, so I served my table. Then I had to request someone to come over and take our order. A different server came over and took our appetizer order. 30 minutes later we had to ask about the order and it came out, but it was incorrect and they had to go back to the kitchen to get the rest of what we ordered. Being extremely frustrated by this time I went to the manager and asked for him to take our dinner order. He politely did, and after 45 more minutes I had to go and ask him where our food was. By now there were several tables of 6-8 people who came in after us, had received their food, and had left. The manager brought out our food, some of which was incorrect but the teenagers were starving so we ate it. The enchiladas were ice cold, obviously been sitting for a long time. The tacos were all incorrect, and the steak was cold. This was a terrible experience, the place has really gone downhill recently. Excellent food, absolutely the WORST service of any restaurant I have been to. We will never go back and I will actively tell others to...

Terrible customer service by the young man working the host stand. He was extremely condescending the moment we walked in the door, his arrogance was almost enough for us not to put our names on the wait list but we did anyway (party of 5) since the restaurant was recommended to us by a good friend. After about a 70 minute wait, we got the text and arrived around 5 minutes later. Table still wasn’t ready and the host continued to act extremely rudely towards us, as if it was our fault that our table still wasn’t ready. It took about an hour for our food to come out, at that point most of the tacos we ordered were cold. They completely missed one person’s order and brought out three tacos that he didn’t even order 10 minutes later. For some reason the host came back over to check in after everyone had their food (even though we had a different server by that point), we told him that we were disappointed and concerned to eat some of the food because of the temperature, and without even thinking he immediately took everyone’s plates while smiling at us. We asked him to comp our food that we didn’t eat and that we’d pay for the drinks, he continued to make snarky comments while smiling like he was taking pleasure in the uncomfortable situation. I’ve never been one to complain about a dining experience, but this was absolutely atrocious. Had it not been for the host, I would’ve given this review 3 stars but his service was so poor and left us feeling so offended that I felt compelled to post this. Whoever owns or manages this restaurant needs to have a chat with this kid and set him straight, he ruined our Friday night and our experience outside of the ski slopes at...

The reviews were mixed so we thought we would give it a try. The place was very small and we were originally sat at a table that had a wall taking up 1/3 of the table and was blinded by this very bright spot light that was angled at the table. We moved tables but this would have been a very uncomfortable place to try to eat. There definitely should not be a table placed there. The service was slow, which was apologized for repeatedly, but its one thing to have slow service and another to have to ask for things multiple times. The mex-asian fusion is definitely a bit unique, but unfortunately did not work for our taste buds. The spicy garlic edamame tasted like they were soaked in hot sauce. They were not the typical spicy chili garlic sauce that you would get on edamame when eating Japanese cuisine and much too spicy to enjoy. The tacos were served with a sticky, lime rice with soupy black beans poured over them which weren’t fit to eat. We ordered the mahi mahi tacos and a spicy tuna taco. The mango salsa was a great addition to these tacos, however, the spicy tuna was overpowering and the mahi was dry. Overall, the best thing we were served was the limeade which was $7 per glass!!! And the mango salsa that came on top of the tacos. We spent over $70 for 3 tacos, 2 non-alcoholic drinks, and edamame, which seems a bit ridiculous to me for the quality and service. It’s not only hard to find gluten-free options around this area, but also difficult to find tasty, healthy food options.

My wife and I and two other couples visited this place Friday, July 14. We took six seats in front of the grill toward the back of the restaurant, and we could hardly breathe because of all of the smoke from the grill. In fact, it wasn't just smoke, but greasy smoke resulting from very dirty vents that were not cleaned in months from the look of it. I woke up the following morning, still suffering from bronchial issues from last night. Additionally, I ordered two soft shell crab tacos plus two lobster tacos and there was hardly any meat in these tacos but I ended up paying over to $90 for 4 tacos when you include the 20% gratuity they ad to your bill which is outrageously expensive. Lastly the rice was very soggy and had the consistency of grits or very bad sticky rice meant for suchi. Considering the amount of money I paid for these four tacos and the fact I might need an albuterol inhaler for the rest of my stay here, my honest review is that you should definitely find another restaurant to dine at during your stay here. I could have gone to a steakhouse and had a juicy ribeye steak with a baked potato plus a glass of wine and be able to breathe while eating it for equal or less money. My wife and the other 2 couple that accompanied me share my sentiments as well. We have had better taco eating experiences at local food trucks!
