Perhaps my favorite place to eat and drink in all of Maine. Owners Chandler and Zack have created the most peaceful and personable space: soft light, mellow music, charming views, genuine kindness and hospitality. On the menu is a small but exceptional selection of wines by the glass and small plates. The food is amazing: carefully sourced, mostly local, not a trace of pretense but an abundance of care. I get the salad every time, and enjoy how it changes with the season. Emily’s oysters are always pristine. I had the best potato salad of my life here. The best panna cotta too, for that matter. Chandler’s wine recommendations never fail. I love that we can enjoy a glass at the bar and pop into the wine shop as we leave to bring a bottle home. We visit as often as we can and always feel grateful for the time spent there.

I asked for a Rose, and I tasted the wine. I said.. that's fine, thinking it was just a taste. But that was it for $16. That might be a difficult sell come winter.

Amazing hospitality and a great selection of wines. They take pains to source ingredients well and make each dish perfect. The best-kept secret in Wiscasset!

My wife and I have been searching high and low for a top-shelf dining experience in Maine since we arrived. Today, we drove 2-1/2 hours from Bar Harbor to Wiscasset to eat at “In a Silent Way.” It exceeded all expectations. James Beard-level food and wine. From the oysters to the steak tartare and raspberry panna cotta, everything was magnificent. Well worth the drive. Confident sharing, In a Silent Way, is the most elevated food in Maine. And lovely service as...

Unkind staff. I walked in this empty establishment (only two staff members present) & asked if I could use their ladies room. Was immediately told “NO!”

Most hospitable establishments would have said “Yes ma’am for our patrons & customers”. Not sure why she replied the way she did. She has no clue of I was coming in for a libation & tapas or not.

Recommend you considering going to another local wine bar, one with more hospitality and kindness. In a...
