When on vacation and we find a restaurant we really like we tend to go several times. This was the case at Jodie's Cafe. It was their grand opening weekend and the staff could not have been more accommodating! We ate breakfast there twice and dinner once and had wonderful meals every time. The dining room was comfortable with nice views over the water. Sausage gravy with biscuits is a favorite and theirs did not disappoint! Dinner was excellent - shrimp and grits - a little spicy for me, but should not have surprised me as I know how it's made. Despite the heat, everything was cooked perfectly. Perhaps the absolute best thing I ate anywhere that weekend was the corned beef hash burrito. The corned beef is house-made and absolutely delicious. The burrito was stuffed with this and cubed hash browns with peppers and onions, cheddar cheese and scrambled eggs. The whole burrito was lightly fried and not at all greasy and I could eat another one right now! The bakery case had many scrumptious looking items and we tried the peach pie and blueberry crumble pies. Yum! I highly recommend Jodie's.

Quaint little breakfast and lunch place. I had the Irish Benedict. The corned beef hash, the corned beef, was not missing! Big chunks, great flavor . It was accompanied with grits, I can't remember ever having grits, so creamy and fluffy. Topped em with some butter and real maple syrup! I was set for the day! My wife had eggs with bacon home fries and a blueberry pancake ( the hunter). She really liked it. ( I was in my own world in hash heaven) Service was friendly, very personable. We plan on having breakfast there every day while we're here on vacation! Thank you to everyone at Jodies for such an awesome experience!

Sept 2022: On a week long trip we went to Jodie’s for breakfast 2x. The staff is so friendly, the food is delicious, and what’s not to love about a pride flag out front? Any future trips to mid-coastal Maine will include visits to Jodie’s! Highly recommend. June 2024: Happy to report Jodie’s is still delicious! Friendly staff, great prices, and we love the new location. My husband had the Irish Benedict, I had the breakfast sandwich and my parents enjoyed the egg plate. We will be back :).

I have been to Jodie's a couple times with different people since the establishment moved to the new location --the former Sarah's café...On the surface this seems like it should be a decent dining experience on the water. Sadly, this has never been the case any of the three times I've been. I feel that the restaurant lacks grace and finesse and that is driven by a very poorly run kitchen. The first time I went for lunch. It was an absolute disaster waiting over 1 1/2 hours for a couple sandwiches and 1/2 the order never arrived because they had to redo it. All the while. there were only about 10 people in the restaurant and the manager was sitting in a corner watching the place struggle like it was normal. I would have been in the kitchen helping to figure out why the food was taking so long. The second time the wait was also long 45 min and the food was cold. Bread on the sandwiches was terrible--very dense...the corned beef of the reuben sandwich was shredded and dry, and 1/2 the chips were not cooked at all. The third time I figured would be a charm but it was also spectacularly horrid. The eggs which I ordered over easy arrived cold and one was over hard the other was almost hard...how did they even manage that one? The breakfast potatoes were deep fried, woefully over cooked and dry and to top it off they barely sauteed some onions and peppers and threw them on top of the potatoes. I honestly don't remember seeing that was even a thing on the menu but it could have been. They were also not seasoned. The toast was very thin and hard, cold, and wasn't even buttered. I had to ask for butter. The bread--I presume being made there--is dense and undesirable. For being a so called bakery I would have liked to see a better quality...I follow this place on Meta and watch the postings hoping for great things and that's why I keep going back. But alas I wont...it's too depressing to spend money and be unhappy to do so...almost unhappy....as the servers appear hiding in the server station embarrassed, waiting for the food to finally emerge all the while probably praying that it's a.) the correct order and b.) that it's cooked properly. I feel bad for them honestly. I wish that Jodie's put more effort into quality of food and service rather than posting photos of the nightclub aspect of this place. I'm going to wait a long time before going back. I feel sad about it but talking to many of my friends who have had very similar experiences...I don't know if good change is coming or this is well...it? I do not recommend this place based on my experiences. I don't know how all these great reviews are happening...so that tells me that either people like the owner personally, they have low expectations, or that there's really great days and really horrible ones and I have just had the misfortune of three occasions hitting the bad ones. If that's the case the fluctuation is going to really hurt the reputation of this business. Overall this feels to me like somebody who is running a restaurant for a hobby and because of the lack of high volume experience is totally not...

Took my brother to Jodie’s for his Birthday on a Saturday afternoon, and were pleased that it was not busy after being told there was an hour wait at the first place we tried. No one was near the entrance to greet us, so we stood awkwardly wondering if we were supposed to wait to be seated, or just find our own table. I noticed the “Special’s” board was on the floor, leaning against the hostess station (lackluster) and our server never mentioned to us what they were once we were seated. My brother and I ordered Ruben’s noticing the corn beef was house made, and sauerkraut was from Morse’s. We waited over an hour for our food, which was unexpected since there were only a handful of other tables. When our food did arrive, the server confused our order with what people at the table next to us had ordered. Servers seemed inexperienced. Our Ruben’s were good, but my son ordered a cheese burger which he said he could tell it had been sitting since it was no longer warm. My impression is that the kitchen is not being run efficiently. The whole experience felt unprofessional… like no one really cared that much about the customer experience. Thankfully I couldn’t have been happier with the company I kept. As we left, we walked past the windows looking into the cafe’ from water street. There was a shelf that ran along the window that had a cardboard box, plastic tub containing silverware, a random plate that had fallen in between the shelf and the window, and was just left there.. and other non discript items that gave the impression that they didn’t care what “impression” they gave. These were their FRONT windows! They were also streaked and dirty. Our last impression, but could be...

Tried out Jodies after driving past it several times and was curious about the food! I will preface this by saying our waitress was a very nice lady and did a great job, absolutely no complaints with service or wait time.

Online, their menu was rather large, and included multiple vegetarian options (which neither me nor my guest eat meat) and showcased all day breakfast. When we showed up, the menu was considerably smaller, and had almost no vegetarian entree options, including no veggie burger or vegetarian sandwiches on their online menu. Also no all-day breakfast. Because there were such limited options, we ended up splittyan Alfredo, getting potato wedges, and fried green tomatoes with "smoky" ranch.

All the food lacked seasoning. The Alfredo was bland and I had to add salt and pepper to get it to taste like anything other than cream. The potato wedges were okay, but again, lacked seasoning and were not hot. The fried tomatoes were good! The sauce was not smoky but tasted like regular ranch, which was fine. The price for what you get was quite high, and quite frankly feel like I could have gotten jarred sauce at Walmart and have it taste the same. Again, no complaints about anybody working there. It just seemed that Jodies is confused about what it wants to be--linens on the table, classical music in the background, and high prices, but tasteless food served in diner baskets with paper, plastic containers of condiments that you buy at the store, paper napkins, and an overall lackluster and overpriced experience. I will say the desserts at least...
