Mike's Place Pizzeria & Roast — Restaurant in Woburn

We've ordered from here once before and I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality but the great customer service experience was lacking. So we decided to give another try I called to order two subs and the woman who answered the phone didn't greet me well nor was her tone friendly but I proceeded to order anyway. Once my order was complete I informed her I would be using a card to pay, she asked for my card number and I gave it to her. She said she had a hard time hearing me, so I repeat the number again and still she says she can't hear, well after 4 attempts you can imagine I'm now frustrated. She passes the phone to some guy he asks the same questions and I give him the numbers and apparently he cannot hear either. It is 2018 if you had online ordering this would not be a problem you have your workers answering phones in the kitchen with the grill and all other kinds of noises and expect customers to have to yell for them to hear. So I tell them to cancel the order and I hang up. I end up ordering from another restaurant thru UBER EATS and everything worked perfectly fine. 20 minutes later my doorbell rings and I'm expecting and Uber delivery driver no it is the driver from mikes with the order I CANCELLED insisting that I pay cash. Held off giving a bad review, but this is the 3rd poor delivery and food I've received. I used to love this place, but it's gone downhill. The only quality item left is their pita bread. It truly seems as if they do not care anymore. $50 for an extremely small chicken and steak kabob wraps and cheese fries. My son got 4 small steak tips on his wrap. Both of our wraps were soggy and DRIPPING liquid. Pretty sure we must have ordered soup wraps by accident? 🤔 Our food came cold and the dressing I paid for was spilled all over the inside and outside of the bag. There is no way the delivery driver did not know, it was all over my counter after I set it down. I checked outside where the driver put the food down and there was dressing on my porch chair too. Prior to this, I've received a steak tip rice bowl with 3 extremely small steak tips for $20, and a chicken broccoli ziti that had Greek dressing in it instead of alfredo 🤢 (more than once... unless they just served rancid alfredo as it was sour and tasted just like their dressing). I order from Mike's all the time with my co-workers. The food is consistently good. I give to food 4 stars. It's not 5 stars because they put their hot meat in the salads and it wilts the lettuce if you don't eat it immediately. Other places in the area wrap their meat in a separate container when it needs to go with a cold item.

The other problem is their weird billing practices. I get overcharged there on a regular basis. The problem lies in when you ask for things "on the side." They charge you EXTRA for a "side item" that should actually come with the dinner.

Here's as example that happened tonight. I ordered the grilled chicken burrito bowl. It COMES WITH lettuce and sour cream. However, because I am never able to eat it before the heat melts the sour cream and wilts the lettuce, I asked for it on the side. This is how they billed me: 1 Gr Chix burrito bowl - 9.05 no lettuce no sour cream 1 side of sour cream - 0.35 1 side of lettuce - 0.50 SOOOO, I paid $9.90 (85 cents extra) for a $9.05...
