POSTSCRIPT: Instead of wasting time stalking me online (yay you...you get an A+ in googling!), the owner would perhaps be better served dedicating his time to improving his restaurants. I would have loved to have left my review on Trenta's Google page, but there isn't one, nor does the company have a website. Mr. Martin, please take note: it's not your customer's job to call you and manage/spoonfeed you on how to run your businesses. You can take the criticism or leave it. Based on your churlish response, I can guess which it will be. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The ownership changed here. The folks who own Nolan's are now the same people who own Trenta (30 Middleton Rd, Wolfeboro). Since Trenta has no place to leave a review, I'm leaving one here.
Trenta deserved 0 stars -- even when considering the restaurant is new and deserves time to hit its stride.
The menu is schizophrenic which should have been a hint that the chef knows nothing about food. The restaurant's name is Italian, the decor is Appalachian, and the menu is littered with all sorts of random dishes. Zero cohesion.
I ordered a salad to start. It was the least weird ingredient combo I could find, and I really wanted a salad. This one was kale, pumpkin seeds, delicata squash, cranberries, rye croutons and something that sounded like a caesar dressing. The squash turned out to be raw, as were the cranberries. The chef claimed the cranberries were pickled. I'm quite sure he doesn't know what the word "pickled" means. I sent the salad back. Unless you're a bear, it was inedible.
My husband ordered the frisee salad which was repulsive. It was a big mass of frisee covered with what might have been a poached egg, regular walnuts and almost no dressing. My husband also ordered the duck egg roll appetizer. The egg rolls had zero taste and were finished with a weird (tasteless) balsamic sauce. Note: this chef seems averse to salt and other seasonings generally.
Side note: I was talking with a friend who had eaten at Trenta earlier on the same night. She ordered the same salad. When she commented on the raw squash and cranberries, the chef came out and harassed her.
I ordered the carbonara for my main. It was like glue. I ate a few bites, as I was starving at this point and said no thanks. We all passed on dessert. I can't even imagine the horrors dessert would offer.
All in all, it was a $300 meal that I barely ate. Save your money and eat at The Pavilion. Same price point but you'll actually have a stellar meal with incredible service.
The service at Trenta was terrible, as the family members seemed more concerned with chatting up their friends rather than serving customers. I felt bad for the servers who were non-family members, as they weren't well trained, and it was a stressful, chaotic situation.
Not sure what made this family decide to run not one but two restaurants in Wolfeboro, but I know one thing: I'll not be returning to Trenta or Nolan's. I'm confident folks who misunderstand food on such a basic level will struggle to make an...
Read moreOld review: (Amazing seafood alfredo, bread, service and drinks!) Updated review: Phantom gourmet would scowl at this place! Do not be mistaken, this place is clearly another wonderful restaurant ruined by new ownership/management! I knew immediately when I got my usual order which consists of the clam chowder and chicken Alfredo. The chowder was disgusting and smelled like bad and oddly strong fishy clams with sour milk broth. Not fresh like usual or typical fishy, this was bad! I was shocked, still willing to look aside and gave the consideration maybe they were having an off night.
But boy was I wrong! I waited over two hours for my app, our entrees were no where to be seen! Our waitress though could be seen chatting with a group of her friends for most of the time that we were there. I had to ask another waitress for our check! Then we have a cocky manager approach us with an attitude trying to pressure us to take our food that she said had been ready and sitting up front. Being significantly annoyed I said "NO TY" BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR THE COLD FOOD THAT HAD BEEN SITTING OUT FRONT WHILE OUR WAITRESS WAS CHATTING WITH FRIENDS!
She kept explaining it was done and could be packaged up and she could ring me up. I insisted no because I wasn't paying for cold food. Not to mention when I asked for my bill I waited an additional significant amount of time for her to not come back with a to go container for our bread that I ended up having to go asking around for and waiting to check out!
I received my bill for an overpriced garlic bread app I couldn't eat because it was meant to be eaten with my pasta and paid for my drink that had been made wrong that I had to wait to be corrected that came back to me with melted ice!
I think it's pretty obvious judging by all of the other recent reviews since COVID that I am not the only one with the same issue! It's honestly a shame because I really loved this place! Just a heads up and this goes to management and this goes to the owner: when you have a customer that ordered an app to go with their food such as garlic bread and they do not get their entree, and they wait 2 hours to leave without eating, you do not insist on charging them for the for the garlic bread!!!!! That you didn't even offer a to-go container for! Especially when they explain to you that it was meant to go with their dinner and that they didn't even get to touch it and it was sitting cold on the table! You should have had some consideration and understanding.
You lost a very high paying customer that has spent hundreds of dollars each time I visit! You have a lot to learn about running a business and I'm pretty sure that I can say this for me and everyone else when I say that you're doing it wrong! You will learn the hard way when you see those...
Read moreWent into the restaurant today and this was not my first time. I ordered the same drink I always order which is one of the "special drinks" I always order it with light rum instead of dark rum, and there always happy to accommodate my request.
Well this time the server came back and advised she couldn't switch the rims due to they make the drink in batches! I did let her know that I have come in many times before and ordered this with no issues. Sli asked if she could make the drink as you would as a bartender for any other drink, and without hesitation was told "NO".
As a bartender there is absolutely no reason why that drink couldn't have been made. It's a very basic summer drink and all the ingredients are ingredients at the bar and well including the juices. The restaurant was not busy either.
So then I asked for a mojito nope they didn't have the ingredients to make that either. Which was surprising since mojitos are one of the most popular drinks in the summer.
To top it all off the server was snarky when I suggested she make the drink by hand since it's in a batch and all the ingredients are at the bar, when I asked for the mojito without simple syrup the server and bartender again thought it was funny I was asking for a drink without simple syrup they whispered something then started laughing. Then finally I ordered a Bacardi and diet and was sure to ask for a lime as I was sure the server wouldn't know that a rum drink comes with a lime. So once again the server went over to the bartender and says" she wants a Bacardi and diet with a lime" in her snarky manner and once again the bartender mumbles something and stars laughing.
Needless to say, I will probably not be back to dine in that's for sure. Which is a disappoint to me as we due love the pizza here and we have always had a great experience, and it's out go to when we have friends and family in town!! What a terrible way of handling and accommodating your customers. To make it worse giving your customer an attitude. I am not sure if it was the bartender who didn't know how to properly mix or make the drink try offer or just pure laziness. But as noted above I have ordered this "special drink" this way every time I hav come in with no questions or push back. I mean I could have just asked for the drink with the same ingredients separately and they would have...
