Garwoods is an absolute gem in Lake Winnipesaukee! The crab cakes and onion soup were amazing—the crab cakes were packed with flavor, and you can really taste the fresh crab. The NY steak was to die for, cooked to perfection with every bite being incredibly tender and juicy. The ambiance and service were top-notch, making for a delightful dining experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!
[Updated July 2025] We came back for dinner this year after last year’s fantastic experience, but unfortunately, the quality has really declined—possibly due to a change in ownership. While the manager was gracious and the servers remained excellent, the food was a letdown across the board. The fish dip was overly salty, the chicken burger was undercooked, and the clams were just okay at best. The linguini was sticky and uninspired, and the ribeye, which we remembered being excellent, fell flat this time. On the positive side, the burger itself was actually quite good—but all the fries served with the dishes were cold. Thankfully, I asked for the sauce on the side with the ribeye because it was downright unpleasant.
It feels like whoever is running the kitchen now doesn’t understand what made this place special before. Regrettably, I can’t recommend...
Read moreGarwoods is back! Vastly improved food quality. We have been to Garwoods many times and has been a favorite destination over the years. It has always been as much about the location, views and lakefront atmosphere - food was just part of the equation. However, in the last few years we noticed a steady decline in the food to the point that no amount of location and views could overcome it, we sadly debated ever returning. Saturday, we decided to bring friends with us in hopes it wouldn't be that bad. Wow! New items on the menu were excellent as well as items that had always been there. One guest had the ribeye steak with chimichuri, and stated it was the best he ever had, another thought the lobster roll was top notch and not slathered in mayo typical of inferior versions, and it certainly looked ample to me. Everyone at the table was delighted with their plates right down to the home made potato chips, a vast improvement. Hats off to the kitchen, and bravo for the staff which has always been good. See you soon...
Read moreOur party of 4 arrived right around shift change for dinner but you would not have known it if the waitress did not state it. Everything was very classy and clean. There is no dress code so if your coming from the docks in bathing suits and coverups you can still dine in. They have an indoor outdoor seating options. This is not a "cheap" restaurant but I have had more expensive food taste worse so I was happy with the prices. If you are worried about the cost, there are menus with prices right inside the doorway on the wall and the staff will not hassle you for looking.
There menu was not extensive but there was a little of everything. Lots of seafood options such as Seared Tuna Tacos, Crab Cake sandwich as well as the traditional fish and chips which were all fabulous. Our resident clam chowder expert said their chowder was a 6 out of 10 and the traditional Mojito was killer.
We had an amazing experience and I would definatly recommend...
