This review needs to be broken down into four categories because there is much to complain about and share. Quick summary at the bottom. Food: The food was edible but not very tasty. We had ordered variety of food including some veg, non-veg and Indochinese items. Only the Hakka-noodles were worth the price... the rest was bland, the biriyani had NO salt. The prices are on par with local Indian restaurants but the quality isn't. Servers: The host left us to go clean up the table himself without telling us that he is doing that so we were left looking around hoping that someone would tell us if we will be seated soon. Once we got the seats it took about 10 minutes for the server to get us the menus... when in fact all the servers were huddled together talking to each other. The server had difficult time placing the order with his mobile ordering device so the order had to be repeated multiple times and it took usually long. The server told us that normally they don't serve white plain rice with Main dishes but he would bring it for us since we were patient with him(we never got this). The apps arrived on time within 15 minutes but one of the apps was missing. The original server was reminded of the missing app and he said he would get it for us quickly, after this he never visited our table again. He was huddled up with this buddies within our eye site but never bothered checking on us or the missing app. Another server dropped off the main dishes(45 mins AFTER the apps) and he too was reminded of the missing app but that never came either. They rushed us to finish the food since they were closing for the afternoon break after they delayed the food order -_-. We never received the app but it was on the bill anyways, we complained about it and it they removed the app and took a $1.25 off the bill. Our bill was $180.00 so the compensation for less than average food and more than average delay and lack of attentive or accurate service was less than 1%. Manager: There was 1 lady manager who was hugging another complaining customer since that customer is a usually and felt that the service was exceptionally bad this time and she wanted to complain to the manager despite having a good relationship with the manager. When we complained she said since you already paid I can't take anything off anymore. She said "Sorry for this time please come again a little early next time"... as if they didn't delay the food, we were there almost 2 hours before their lunch closing time. She could have taken 5 minutes out and gave us compensation by Cash or Credit since we paid in both. Cleanliness: The seats are falling apart, old cracked leather couches and seats. Dirty walls and really sticky menus with visible food particles dried and stuck to them. Bathroom was not clean either for both men and women.
Quick Summary: Do takeout or go to MANY other local restaurants within 5 mins of the place. Definitely try their Hakka noodles if you like that desi Indochinese taste. Pros - Plenty of parking and seats available, well dressed servers, Indochinese dishes were really good here(do takeout!) Cons- Overall main dishes were bland (mostly salt-less), servers and hosts aren't as attentive, not cleaned often, needs renovation(upgraded furniture), servers and management need to be trained on customer...
Read moreOk I've eaten here many times over the years so I'll give the pros, cons, and the in betweens. I went today for my parent's anniversary and the food was decent their veg is always beyond delicious. The soft naan with crispy edges went so well with the paneer tikka masala, methi matar malai, and veg jalfrezi. The chilli paneer was a bit chewy but tasted pretty good with the right amount of spicy that went pretty well with their hakka noodles. The appetizers they had today were choley tikki and pav bhaji with multi-chicken grill (green, white and tandoori) and there was a separate serving dome with red chicken wings all were great and I tried not to fill up on them since I wanted to try everything. The biryani was freshly added and tastewise was it was ok but it could be better if the rice wasn't overcooked? I didn't really feel wowed by the nonveg entrees either today either there were two chicken curries; desi and tikka masala they were decent but not wow...the panipuri lets jst say normally i just make my own with chutneys and raita after getting a plate of plain puris but the lady making it was lazy and rude( she'd stare after giving 2 pani puris)đ I asked her if i can just have it plain with the filling and water in a bowl separate and i'll eat it at the table she straight up refused idk why... Servers at Rasoi 1 and previously rasoi 2 always said its ok. Some in the past have been kind enough to set a plate of plain puris and 2 bowls one with the water and one with the potato filling for me and drop it off at my table if you add thei raita with their 3 signature chutneys and a spoonful of the water its legit heaven... anway so after she refused i had my 2 pani puris and today the water felt off or old idk it tasted wierd like bananas? (Normally its really good sweet and sour with a kick of spice) but today it was bleck.... Then came the dessert the rasmalai was decent not too sweet it had an essence of rose and a good amount of pistachio nuts the malai(disks) were soft and spongy and the ras(milk) was thick and tasty so was their fruit custard not sweet and i didnt bother with the gulab jambun cuz they were burning hot and i didn't feel like burning my tongue today lol but for those that like gulab jambun hot you'd like these. Otherwise the rest of the staff were really friendly the wait staff were attentive and promt with drink refills and cleaned up really quickly in between servings, and sweet enough to get me extra utensils or napkins when I asked...other than that we still went home stuffed n happy. And they went back to weekday buffets which is about 15 bucks so I'll be coming...
Read moreWe had eaten good lunch buffet at Rasoi several years back and decided to revisit for dinner from their à la carte menu. This was Saturday around 9pm and we were seated after 15 minutes waiting. Their staff really needs some training. Now these are the reasons for my 1-star rating - Nobody came to take our order till about 10 minutes of being seated, even though they weren't very crowded. The waiter who finally came really insisted that we MUST order mango lassi for our daughter because all kids like it. We kept on saying she doesn't like it but he just wouldn't listen! When he finally brought our beer after another 10 minutes waiting, he was handing out beer bottles in our hands instead of just placing them on the table! This was just very weird where he was "hovering" the bottles in front of our face, while we were trying to talk to each other. Same when he brought our dinner plates. He wouldn't keep anything on the table, just wanted to hand it to us! Then few drops fell on one of us and on the table from the AC vent above us. When we called a waiter passing by, he just shrugged and said "It's the AC sir what can I do". Ridiculous! Then we called our waiter and complained about it, he just wiped the table with a cloth and said "Now its okay". We suggested to move us to another table or move our table so that it doesn't fall again, probably on our food! Very reluctantly he agreed and we had to help to move the table because nobody else came forward to move us! At this point the feeling of a ruined evening had started creeping in and we were really keeping our fingers crossed for some good food at least which would make up for the horrible service we were receiving. No... food was really bad and we had great doubts to all other reviews here and our own memory of good Rasoi food. Dal makhni had less salt, paneer tikka gravy and chicken tikka gravy were both sweet - even though the description in the menu said spicy. I don't know if something was wrong only that evening that the food and service was so bad, or Rasoi is slowly declining their quality, but we had a horrible experience and won't...
