My family has been looking for a good Indian restaurant to eat at. I'm a little spoiled because I have been to many and decided to try Utsav—especially because Indian cuisine is my favorite. I was particularly excited because it's right up the street from my house and walking distance. Raj and Patil were great and their service was friendly and inviting. The food came out quickly and the environment was great. They had good music, told us that they did BYOB, and next time we will definitely dine in because the spot was pretty. As for the food, I was happy and felt like I finally found a place that I can consistently go to and really enjoy. I ordered the butter chicken—kept it light but it was still rich and flavorful without being heavy. You ever go somewhere and the food tastes like tomatoes sauce with chicken? This isn't it. It felt homemade and authentic. The naan was soft and perfect and tasted like it had love in it. Everything tasted fresh and fun, like they actually cared about the quality. All in all, this feels like a hidden gem in the neighborhood, and I’m glad we gave it a try. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes on the menu.
Utsav might be the new heavy...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant with my friends for the first time. Usually, I don’t write reviews, but after seeing so many positive ones, I felt I should share my experience.
Ambiance: I really appreciated the way the place was arranged, and the atmosphere nicely reflected our culture. However, ambiance alone isn’t enough to attract people if other areas are lacking.
Service: This was the most disappointing part. The staff didn’t seem attentive or caring. For example, one of my friends had to ask for help to get his water glass refilled. While a staff member eventually refilled it, they ignored the other empty glasses at our table and just walked away. I noticed similar instances throughout our visit, which left a very negative impression.
Food: We ordered a variety of dinner dishes. The food was okay overall—not bad, but nothing special. The one standout for me was the Chettinad Mutton Curry, which I really enjoyed.
Price: The prices felt a little high for the overall experience.
Overall, the restaurant has potential with its ambiance and certain dishes, but the service really needs...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this gem of a restaurant, and I must say—it’s the closest I’ve come to authentic Hyderabadi flavors in New Jersey! We ordered the Mutton Biryani, which was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—truly authentic in every sense. We also tried the Green Bang Bites (veg) and Chicken 65 as appetizers, both of which were packed with bold, satisfying flavors. To complement our meal, we had the Mango Lassi, which was refreshing and just the right balance of sweet and tangy. But the real stars were the desserts—Gel ie Firdhouse and Apricot Delight—absolutely divine and the perfect way to end an amazing meal. The hospitality here deserves a special mention. Raj was excellent—warm, attentive, and offered great suggestions that made our dining experience even better. This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves Indian food, especially if you're craving authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. I’ll definitely be recommending it to friends and coming...
