I wanted to hate this place because I live upstairs and don't need the strain and drain on my diet and wallet... but it's actually really good!!
Going into this, I had already read about their concept and knew it wasn't meant to be a 5-star restaurant but a convenient food hub to get a variety of takeout quickly that would appease differing taste buds. I think in that respect, this place is a success.
The staff are friendly and the food comes out quickly. From what we spend on Grubhub for delivery, the cost of our order for a family of three was cheaper and better tasting (keep in mind since we live so close we get the food hot and crispy). We also got a big order with our friends which was not bad for four adults and two kids. I also love that there is a kid's menu for those nights when we're too exhausted to cook.
So far we've tried a little bit of everything:
Alanza Pizza: truffle & mushroom pizza, pesto bacon pizza - not super impressed, kinda bland and dry but the truffle mushroom was better than the pesto bacon
Detroit Brick Pizza: cheesy garlic bread, cheeseburger pizza, motor city pizza, taco pizza, onion rings - this was a favorite, especially the cheesy garlic bread. The crust is super thick and pillowy which is what we love in pizzas
Kin House: wonton soup - only have tried the wonton soup, which has different type of dumplings than a normal Chinese takeout place, and I really enjoyed it! The broth was flavorful and the dumplings were pork (I think) instead of the usual beef I see in other Chinese places
Alanza: tortigliolini bolognese - the meat sauce was sooo good!! I usually like a thinner sauce so the next day I took the leftover bits and added some beef broth and had enough for another meal
Streetbird: mac n greens - wasn't super impressed. Kind of bland but I wanted to like it
Tejas BBQ: pork belly to die for, so crispy and fatty deliciousness. Not for people new to pork belly though because it's so rich. Pork ribs were delicious as well
Bellies Kids: mac n cheese with roasted broccoli, fries - toddlers loved it all but the broccoli (go figure lol)
Room for Dessert: banana pudding, rice krispie bar - very decadent and rich
So all in all, needless to say we...
Read moreWe think that this is a great option for dining and were excited to experience it. We did but for our order we were sorely disappointed. We are both Pastrami sandwich lovers and decided to make that our first order from Tejas. The price was restrictive at $19.00, but if the sandwich lived up to the hype it would be worth it. For us it wasn't.
The Pastrami was tasty but the sandwich as a whole was disappointing for the price. Meat, two slices of dry bread, and 3 small pickle medallions with a small packet of mustard. Very pedestrian at a First Class price. This is only one of the available stores, but our initial order from this restaurant left us hesitant to try the others should they be just as pedestrian with preparation. We were really looking forward to being consistent customers but we are also...
Read moreOrdering from Wonder was super easy, and the service was impressively quick. The employees were friendly and helpful, which made for a smooth experience overall.
That said, the food itself didn’t really hit the mark. I tried the deluxe chicken sandwich and found it bland—the chicken was tough and clearly reheated. The pinto beans from Tejas were cold and not enjoyable, and even the mac and greens, while better, still lacked flavor. Nothing really felt freshly made or prepared with care.
If I return, it’ll probably just be for a salad. The convenience and service are great, but the food could definitely use a...
