6th visit in 10 years. Tonight - worst service I've ever experienced in my life at any establishment, in the world. I dine out almost every night & have done so for the last 20+ years & travel constantly. I am a 20-30% tipper. I didn't even tip Allison V 15% and even that was too much. Every possible mistake a server could make Allison V made and went above and beyond at doing so. Within 3 minutes of sitting down, Allison V asked us if we were ready to order - & before even asking if we wanted a drink. I said I haven't looked at the menu we just sat down, but I will have a cabernet. She asked if "house" was ok... "Sure" I said. But what I was really thinking was, I said cabernet. We are in JJ Bittings, as far as I know there isn't a wine list, even if there was - I said cabernet - that means house. Don't make it too obvious you're annoyed. She comes back not even 3 minutes later without the drinks and asked if we've decided yet. The place isn't even crowded. So she forces the issue and says do you guys wanna order apps? Is there anything more low class than that? Seriously. But Allison V takes it one step further... Since we were pressured, we tried to appease her. 4 of us quickly ordered 3 apps. Friend ordered wings & specified ranch, because she doesn't like Blue Cheese. Then she actually stands there and asks "Are you ready to order your entrees now?". We order hastily while Allison V stands there visibly annoyed. Apps come in a timely fashion but no ranch,. Friend asks for ranch again. Allison V is annoyed & walks away. 2 guys come by 15 min later & take away the plates. I ask them for another glass of cab. Allison V finally comes with ranch but no wings are left. I remind her that I ordered a cab. She leaves. Comes back 10 min later, now the place almost empty. There are 4 tables toward Rt. 514, and us. That's. it. Another lady was taking care of the 4 tables by herself. So Allison V had 1 table. Another 10 min pass & I have to go to the restroom & to be honest I was curious to see what Allison V was doing. I go towards the bar, & don't see her back there. I come out of the bathroom, she is standing with one foot against the wall eating a bowl of chili or soup. She eventually returns and I ask again, so an hour + in I finally get my glass. When she brings it, the wings plate was still there and instead of walking to my friend who was seated by the wall (small 4 seat table) and picking up the plate she's like rubbing against me and says to my friend's wife, "YA MIND?". (meaning "hand me your plate"). I have never in my life been around a person who so blatantly and freely expressed a vibe like "I don't wanna be here. And the fact I have to wait on you bothers me.. a lot." Food comes, was ok. Wife & friend sat with an empty pint glass for at least 30 min, she never asked to refill. The server waiting on the other tables walked by us 6 or 7 times for every 1 time I saw my server. Meal is finished, my glass is empty I didn't even ask for another because I just wanted to leave at this point. As she was taking stuff away she says "Anything else?" NOT "Can I get you guys any dessert?". Now my friend wanted to stay and BS so he ordered another pint, which came 5-10 minutes later. Realizing I had to stick around now, I ordered another glass and pecan pie and also requested the check because now we are pushing 2.5 hours. Yes. 2 and a half hours. So just as we are ready to leave, another server starts moving tables next to us very loudly and obnoxiously. All 4 of us noticed this. Maybe she was made I only left her 11 on a $80 bill. ( Friend and I split the $160 bill and he tipped 15-20%). In the last 30 years I have NEVER not tipped less than 20%. If I tipped her 10 cents it would have been too much. I will NEVER return and I will make sure EVERYONE I know in Metuchen to NOT GO THERE. Ever. Allison V. was the worst server EVER. In the history of the world. JJ Bitting's management and owners should be ashamed and embarrassed of the people they have representing...
Read moreThis was such a horrible experience. My family and I had to drive from Michigan to NJ for the funeral of our grandfather, after the funeral we wanted to go grab a drink to clear our heads, it was about 10pm on Sat 29th. We looked up a few cool looking places and choose this brewery. My two brothers and I walk to the outside bar and have a seat at a table. The server young tan guy with curly hair approaches us and says "hey are you getting food because the kitchen is closed". "We said do you have a late night menu? "He said " Yes, but are you ordering drinks also, because if you are they you have to get up and go to the bar, but if you are getting food you can stay but if you want food and drinks you have to go the bar" he literally took us on a rollercoaster of if we wanted a drink we have to go to the bar but we cant get food but then we can get food but we cant order from him ect... literally 10 minutes all to come to the conclusion that he just probably did not want to serve us, and was cut or whatever, in college both my brother and I were bartenders and know the game, if anything we would have just appreciated the honesty if we just said I wanna go home can you go to the bar. I got so frustrated with this boys lack of hospitality in addition to the hard day we were already having that we asked if we can just go sit inside.
We walk inside take a seat at the bar, this older blonde lady greets us with a cold "Hi, can I see your ID" ? I am 31, and my brothers are 26 and 23. Mind you we may look young but we were very polite and well dressed. That was how we were welcomed. I ordered a margarita, when she brought it to me My brother kindly asked for a food menu and she said " kitchen is closed" We replied " the guy outside told us the kitchen had a late night menu" she said " no, I have to check but im sure its closed." You mean to tell me you work here and do not know what time you stop serving food? or you just dont want to do your job, I am here willing to pay and tip for you to do what you came here to do, be hospitable, kind and take care of your guests. You never know what someone is going through and just a few hours before we buried our grandfather. After seeing this ladies attitude in addition to the server outside I kindly and calmly asked for the bill, I paid for the margarita that I did not take a sip of and told my brothers lets leave we clearly are not welcomed here. Like I said my brothers and I both were in the biz we know the feelings of wanting to go home but google said you were open 2 hours later than the time we arrived so we just did not expect that. Once the bartender saw me get up after not touching my drink and paying she said " oh I wouldnt have charged you if I knew you werent gonna drink it, and she asked my brother if she can rectify the situation and to please come back to the bar, she followed that with a fake " hi welcome" . My brother said that it was too late and we did not care to be here anymore after that treatment and we left. I mean we were treated horribly and I cant believe this place has so many good reviews, Idk if that is just late night service but it was such a sad experience after an already sad day. You should be kind and do better or get a job outside...
Read moreMy son and I went to Woodbridge Brewery for a Nestor Cortes (my Favorite Yankee Player) meet and greet. We went early to grab a bite to eat. We couldn't get our numbered tickets because it was too early. Had to stop eating, to get them at the correct time. We asked many questions to many different staff members so that we understood how the event was going to play out . We were under the assumption that we were going to both get an autograph picture of Nestor (as per the advertisement/flyer) included with the $89.00 each ticket cost us. We brought 3 baseballs to be signed. We then purchased 3 ball cases, a picture of Nestor, 1 Baseball Jersey, and 2 Authentification tickets to have 2 items authenticated for another $170.00. We were also told that there would be a professional photographer upstairs that would take a picture of each of us with Nestor, and if we gave him our phone number, he would call us and we could purchase the picture for a fee.
Our numbers were finally called and we proceeded upstairs-which is when the fiasco began! We were rushed through like we were in a tornado. My son went around to Nestor to give him the baseballs to sign. I was detained by 2 employees who informed me that we could only have 2 items signed because we only had 2 tickets. My son already got the 2 baseballs signed, so I couldn't get the photo that I purchased signed. There was NO photographer taking still pictures. My son gave his cell phone to someone to take our picture, however they rushed us so quickly, that I wasn't even to get my own picture with Nestor???? We did recieve a signed photograph of Nestor????? Before we knew it, we were being escorted back down the stairs and all of this took about 45 seconds????? On top of it all,we never got the baseballs authenticated, (even though I paid for it), because we didn't see who was doing it and we were rushed out!!!!!!!
What a poorly run event!!!!! Don't waste your time and money (we spent about $500.00) with the dinner, tickets, merchandise, authentification, etc. and it was a complete disaster of a night!!!! We were and still are etremely disappointed in the way this event was run. This place is only interested in making money-and not for the enjoyment and pleasure of it's customers/guests. We don't reccommend, unless you want to be disappointed and spend a fortune for nothing!!!!!! Woodbridge Brewing-you should be ashamed of yourselves!! You ruined what was suppose to be a...
