This place was recommended to me by one of my big-eater buddies. He said that the Chicken Katsu was impressively large and very good. I'm the kind of guy who will immediately investigate claims of a large portion of food for a reasonable price so I rolled to this restaurant as soon as possible. The portion was indeed enormous and pretty tasty to boot. I've eaten here quite a few times since that first experience and what kind of ruined it was the first time I decided to have the teriyaki rather than the Katsu. I will say that the quality is not super high but not every meal has to be fine dining. It was definitely good enough and the price was right. Unfortunately, the teriyaki was not only not good enough, it wasn't cooked enough. It actually grossed me out pretty badly and I haven't been back. The Pork Katsu at King's teriyaki down the street is much better as is the teriyaki so i just go there. This is proof of how one bad experience can lead to permanently lost business. I never would have even tried their competition if I hadn't had the bad experience. If you eat the Katsu here, you'll probably like it and be impressed by the portion so please don't let me scare you off but I...
Read moreThis place has unfortunately been going down hill over the last year or so. As someone who has frequented here for years they suddenly started either screwing up my order or mixing it up with someone else’s several times now. But also as their prices have gone up, the quality has gone down too. The lettuce is more yellow than green and sometimes has the mushy texture and taste like it has been frozen and thawed. Today the brown rice was really sticky and gelatinous and just tasted weird, which makes me think it was reheated. The tofu had been left in the fryer too long and was chewy without much flavor. It’s really too bad because there’s limited options for good tofu teriyaki and this place used to be my favorite. Now it seems they are raising prices while still...
Read moreRemember when Woodinville had a Top Foods, QFC, and Blockbuster? That's how long the name Matsu has been around. We used to go here for family dinners when the older couple owned it. Returning back into town, decided to swing by and check it out for old time sake. While under new ownership, the still food still is tasty, service is good/friendly, but the thing that stood out to me was the portions/value. Everything was fairly priced for this day and age, you even get a free drink!
Although the atmosphere could use a little touch up and music a touch down, there is unfortunately no salad dressing in a bottle for the tables anymore, and the greens could use some purple or orange or...
