The food is edible but this is NOT ramen! If you want ok soup with some stuff in it, you can come here. But I will not be back. You should NEVER have to add salt to your broth when served. Real ramen broth should be velvety and very flavourful right off the bat, not watery and sad.
We ordered a tonkotsu shio and tonkotsu shoyu ramen. Other reviews are saying this tastes watery and like store bought soup base with msg and salt and they are right.
I had to add heapfuls of salt and togarashi seasoning. You can see the oil sitting on top of the broth. This is not right. Tonkotsu broth should be cooked at a rolling boil for several hours, resulting in a rich, thick, velvety broth with a lot of flavour because of the fat from the bones being emulsified into the broth. The resulting broth should be a very pale, opaque, creamy color. Our broths were very clear. Seasonings should only be added to personal preference, not to make up for lack of flavour whatsoever. I do not know why so much oil is in this broth.
The eggs are not seasoned whatsoever, and they were cooked unevenly with half the yolk fully cooked. A plain egg will ruin the taste of ramen. Authentic ramen will have an egg with a runny, thick yolk, and the egg will have been cooked in seasoning, giving it a sweet taste that compliments the broth.
The bamboo tasted really really weird, had sweet and alcoholic taste. I don't know what it was but it did not taste right at all. I didn't eat any more of it.
They are adding spinach to this instead of seaweed.
Thankfully the takoyaki was fine, but we did not come for the takoyaki, and they were quite small for the price of $9. Just as expensive as any authentic ramen restaurant, and tastes far worse.
If you want real ramen, Bellevue and Seattle have lovely...
Read moreWow, it was my first time having such an unpleasant experience at any restaurant. I found the service to be incredibly rude. And I didn't understand why.
I came with a couple friends, and we sat right next to the cash register. The kitchen was right behind the register, so as we were looking over the menu, I overheard the girl who was serving speaking to the ladies in the kitchen in Korean.
I had been living in Korea for 3 years, and I was excited to see some Koreans and whip out a bit of the Korean I had learned. When I ordered for myself and my friends in Korean, the server told me succinctly that she doesn't speak Korean. In an effort to give the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe I had misheard them. However, as my friends and I ate, I heard them conversing multiple times, always in Korean.
Later, I asked the girl if there was wifi, and she said "no there isn't." However, there was clearly wifi with the restaurant name on it. I responded, "Yes, there is wifi. Is it not available for guests?" To which she gave an affirmation.
About the food: I had ordered a Tonkatsu Shoyu ramen. The soup was good, but the noodles were bland. And although there was boiled egg in the dish, it was just a normal boiled egg, not the savory kind soaked in soy sauce.
All in all, I believe there are many ramen restaurants who can better satisfy your ramen craving, and also provide...
Read moreI was looking forward to get some ramen after not having any for months! The service was great and the one server was very friendly and attentive (5 stars for him!!). I was surprised at how fast the food came out. I mean, fast service is great but food coming out in less than 10 minutes after ordering made me question how fresh the food is or question the quality of it. We ordered fried gyoza and it was good, but it also tasted like it was store bought frozen (not worth $7). Five minutes later, our tonkotsu shoyu ramen & tantan ramen came out. The presentation was pretty good & couldn't wait to satisfy my cravings. Unfortunately I was disappointed at how bland the broth tasted and that the noodles was not fresh & not cooked well. Tonkotsu broth is supposed to have this rich, creamy taste that compliments the chasu. The chasu was tasty, but it was so tiny (extra chasu is $4!!). Both ramen were $15 each & the overall bill was $50 for 2 people but because of the poor quality, I would say that it's not worth it :// Just have top ramen or Sapporo Ichiban & frozen gyoza at home. Anyway I'm still hopeful that there's better ramen...
