Ludy's BBQ and Catering — Restaurant in Woodland

DELICIOUS! We ordered takeout last night at Ludy's. My son had the brisket meal, DIL ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I had the BBQ chicken salad. First off the meals actually looked like the photos on the website. There was plenty to eat and we all saved half our dinner for lunch today. The brisket was moist and tender, pork was delicious and the chicken was also moist and tender even though it had been sliced and refrigerated for the salad. Our sides included a sweet yet tangy coleslaw with the perfect amount of dressing, baked beans with a smoky sweet flavor, and macaroni and cheese that had a great texture paired with creamy cheese sauce. The warm poppyseed cornbread muffins were light and tasty with plenty of honey butter to spread on them. There was warm BBQ sauce to help yourself to and while I was waiting for everything to be packaged up I was generously offered a side of fried okra on the house. Of course I said yes and of course it was delicious. We will definitely dine in next time, I enjoyed looking at the BBQ and sports related memorabilia on the walls. The atmosphere was casual but I felt like I was at home. Even the way our meals were packaged to-go was well planned and attractive. If you re-purpose your containers you will love the high quality to-go containers the meals come in. I normally don't take time for reviews but the quality food, attention to detail and customer service at this restaurant deserved some attention. Don't miss the wet wipes and the peppermint candies in the bottom of the bag next to the napkin-wrapped full set of heavy plastic cutlery and PLENTY of extra napkins. Go eat at...

My husband and I have lived in woodland for 3 years now and today was the first time we tried Ludy's! We are IN LOVE. We are always searching for a good BBQ spot and this is the best spot in the sacramento area.

This time around we ordered the family pack with the chicken and tri tip + the baked beans, mac & cheese, and corn bread with honey butter. We are big bbq people and love the smokey taste! I MUST say, Ludy's does it right! The smoke is just perfect. BBQ sauce is homemade, of course. The owner has won so many awards and appears to have so many amazing employees that want us to enjoy our experience. We were worried that we didn't choose the brisket as one of the sides for our family order and regretted it, so the cooks gave us a sample of the brisket to take home and it was to die for. We were so thankful they graciously offered us a sample.

And to top it off, the owner was at the restaurant and said hi, introduced himself, and made sure we felt welcome. He invited us back if liked the food and service, and this will definitely be a regular spot for us.

I was very sad years ago when Ludy's Main Street location closed. I had lots of good memories there, and I was happy to learn they were opening back up again in this new location. I finally made it in to try them out, and all the familiar things were there. The chalkboard menu, the red and white checkerboard uniforms, the hot barbecue sauce bar, etc; it was all there, just in a smaller space. I smiled both inside and outside, as it truly felt like the old location. The menu seemed smaller, but I can't tell what might be missing since all my old favorites were there. I got the tri-tip and chicken dinner with fries and Mac and cheese as sides. I had intended to eat it myself for dinner, but it was more generous than I expected, and I got to have it for lunch the next day too as a bonus! Ludy's is Back!
