Disappointing Experience at Persis Biryani Indian Grill: Decline in Food Quality and Poor Service Despite Previous Patronage
As a loyal customer who has frequented Persis Biryani Indian Grill and enjoyed their dishes on multiple occasions, I am particularly disheartened by my recent experience. Two years ago, I left a glowing review, commending the establishment for its pleasant ambiance and delectable cuisine. However, today's encounter paints a starkly different picture.
Having previously enjoyed their chicken lollipop and chicken majestic, I ordered these dishes with high expectations. Unfortunately, what I received was far from satisfactory. The chicken lollipop, a dish I had enjoyed in the past, appeared to have been prepared long ago and simply reheated, resulting in an unappetizing, tough texture. Despite my repeated attempts, I found it nearly impossible to consume.
Furthermore, despite my specific request for a medium level of spiciness in the chicken majestic, the dish arrived devoid of any discernible heat. This departure from the quality and flavor I had come to expect was deeply disappointing.
When I reached out to Persis Biryani Indian Grill to express my concerns and request a refund, I was met with dismissive responses. Despite my status as a returning customer who has brought these dishes from their establishment several times before, the staff member I spoke with showed little regard for my feedback, insisting that this was the standard preparation.
As someone who had previously praised their establishment and recommended it to others, I am deeply disappointed by this decline in both food quality and customer service. I urge Persis Biryani Indian Grill to reconsider their approach to food preparation and customer satisfaction in order to regain the trust and loyalty of their patrons. Until then, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend this...
Read moreUnfortunately, we had a very bad experience at this place. The service is not only bad (in fact, you can’t even call it service), the waitress, a college going kid is very rude and disrespectful. The restaurant is heavily understaffed for a Friday evening surge in business. It was busy with carryout orders with people waiting to pickup their food. We went in for a dine-in and there was no one to take our order or bring the food for us even after an hour. No big deal The kids working there have no idea how to handle that rush and resorted to being abusive to diners-in customers. She refused to bring some onions to go with my biryani. She flat out said they dont have any onions to give out to dine-in people because she couldn’t ask the kitchen staff to chop onions because she is sympathetic to them being busy.
I tried to reason with her after checkout. People who want food from the restaurant, get carryout. People looking for a dining experience, go in as dine-in customers. The behavior of waitresses determine the guest’s experience, and in our case, it was ruined.
I didn’t want or expect her to apologize to me. I just wanted to let her know that my experience was less than deserved. She simply said she doesn’t care and still was adamant that if gets a makeover, she would do the same thing again. People with this attitude shouldn’t work in the hospitality industry, but again, for these college kids, it is a temp job, so they don’t care.
Keep your money and self-respect to yourself and avoid going here. You will thank me later.

Read moreI went for their Sunday buffet today. Some of the items were pretty decent. I haven’t seen tomato drumstick curry in many places. That’s the only positive I would give. I saw scores of UMBC students line up..felt very sorry for them as i think they are being ripped off. The buffet costs 22 bucks including taxes and the service is appalling. You are greeted with dirty tables with only one person going around cleaning at a slow pace. There’s plastic utensils and cutlery. People are all over the place..folks can’t seem to wait to take food to the table before they start eating. It’s pretty disgusting..The whole scenario reminded me of mega weddings back in Hyderabad where people scramble for food..for the same price or maybe a bit less, The Mint Room offers so much more and a decent experience. I think this restaurant is taking advantage of the UMBC students who must be desperate to get one meal a week that reminds them of home. Guys, get an Uber to share and head out to other places that are far better and don’t exist to exploit Indian / international grad students. P.S. I don’t work for the Mint room. I just happened to be there yesterday. So the contrast was quite apparent. I would have not written a review had the price be, say 15 bucks..I was a grad student not too long ago and felt obliged to write a review. If not anything, I hope perhaps some students...
