Pictures of reviews from a year ago showed proper ceramic plates in use. When our food was served on paper plates you buy at Costco, our jaws dropped. When we asked for extra plates, they gave us the kiddie party flimsy paper plates, not even sturdy ones. We had to request they give us the better plates. The utensils kept bending and are cheap plastic, not even the good kinds.
The food is underseasoned, with an unpleasant texture that made me think they were using old meat. The white sauce on the salad made us gag, it was repulsive. It tasted exactly like toothpaste and I had to audibly spit it out. Our stomachs are upset after eating only a few bites, making our appetite completely go away. We came here for our parents' marriage anniversary, and needless to say we are very disappointed.
Also, no air conditioning or fans. At least the bathrooms are nice. I never felt the need to write a review before until this establishment due to the...
Read moreFirst visit here and I had a great experience! I ordered a chicken and lamb combo over rice because it was one of the dishes I've had a few times before at other restaurants.
I was pleasantly surprised by the dish here. The rice had amazing flavor from the whole spices used, which wasn't overpowering but subtle. The chicken was tender and plentiful. The best part was the sauce though! What I've had so far in halal rice bowls has been some kind of mayo or a thick version of hot sauce. At Chopan's, the sauce seemed to be actual tahini, which had nice consistency and an enjoyable sour flavor from the lemons.
The only thing I'd want better is the dine-in experience - I was given food on a paper plate with use-and-throw cutlery. it seems like it has become the norm after the pandemic, which sucks because good cutlery adds to the overall experience!
I look forward to trying out their Kababs on my...
Read moreI ordered 4 items and specified that I need the food to be spicy and well done. The chicken over rice was not spicy and not well done. Had a strange smell The chicken and lamb gyro combo was disgusting because I told them to fry the gyro meat (lamb) before adding it to the platter and they placed it on raw. The 2 chicken tandooris were ordered to be spicy and well done but, that did not happen. The meat was undercooked and the chicken was not spicy. Overall, the food was not fresh because It felt like they just heated up the meat and gave it to us without cooking it properly. The bread was nearly a quarter of a Naan and was hard as a cardboard. NOT HAPPY! I asked for utensils for four people and they added 2 forks and 2 spoons only. Tried them for the first time and will not...
