There’s a better mexican spot down hwy 92 if you want to sit in. I’ve ordered los bravos before on uber eats and its solid, but recently the last 2 times I’ve gone there on sunday nights, it’s felt downhill. It’s been dead every sunday night I can remember, and it always seems like different staff.
0 problems with my server, she was very polite.
My biggest gripe is that, while most restaraunts have a specific menu item “fajitas for 2” and it will have the price next to it at like 26-30 or so, and I say that’s reasonable. It might even feel a little light and I’m like “okay bummer” but this place blindsided me with it being unlisted and charges $43 for fajitas for 2. I could let it slide if it wasn’t for the prior cheapskate stuff the chef/manager pulled on me.
So I order chunky house guac at $10, and I expect it to be guac when it comes out. I swear to god, what I got was like majority pico. Tomatoes/onions/cilantro with chunks of guac scattered around. It couldn’t have been more than 2 small avocados or 1 large. Considering the price at $10 and I am assuming max $2 avacados at restaurant price, I feel that they are robbing us blind pulling a stunt like this.
So I send it back and I say “hey, could you please put more avacado in there?” And the waitress said no problem. The manager (im assuming) comes out of the kitchen and hands it to me. I would not be making this post if I didn’t have this ringing in my head the whole experience. He said “Avacados are expensive rn”.
Let’s analyze this. While it may be true, yes the price of mexican imported avacados may be more expensive, it feels unprofessional af to use that as your reasoning to blatantly lowball me.
If this business wasn’t trying to pull a quick one on the community around them, the appropriate move would be to charge what you need upfront, list the prices, and deliver what is expected.
The spot closer to the interstate actually provides what you pay for. Even if it’s hypothetically listed slightly more, I wouldn’t feel swindled.
Maybe they could’ve just thrown in canned guac to mix with the avacado chunks, idk. Even that feels like it would have been a tall order for them.
Oh and I was given the option of 16 or 22 oz and I think I was given a 32oz, which is fine, I would have paid and been happy. But it somehow conveniently lines up with another upcharge, and then a lowball. Strategically, this place is nickel and diming.
I feel, based on the lack of foot traffic I have seen, and the bumpin restaurant down the road, and the very noticeable drop in quality that this place is getting shady. Hope it can survive the pressures and turn it around, because I used to really like...
Read moreThe absolute worst restaurant of any kind I've ever been to. No exaggeration.
At first glance, I notice the menu pricess are a bit high. Couple dollars here and there, higher than others in the area. I shrugged it off thinking we could at least try this place and at least I wouldn't have to make dinner tonight.
My son couldn't find what he wanted so he asked for 3 large carne asada tacos, with lettuce, cheese, onion, and cilantro. Server said no problem. I ordered the El pastor burrito.
When our food was delivered, it was all down hill. Instead of large tacos, the small, street taco serving was put inside of a large flour tortilla. No lettuce or cheese. My son was a good sport and was going to make it work, until he tried the asada. It was dry, flavorless, and crunchy.
We talked with the server, who was very polite and said he'd fix it. Then the manager came over. No hello, no nothing. Just said that we got what we ordered, my son didn't know what he ordered, and we'd have to pay more to fix it. Felt very much like they were trying to pull one over and upcharge the white people. No, thank you. My son just simply said he didn't want it anymore.
So I tried my burrito. It felt and tasted like I bit straight into an onion covered in cilantro. I tried another bite, this time trying to get more of the pork. Nope. Same experience my son had. The meat was dry, flavorless, and crunchy. I looked and half of the burrito was filled with onion and cilantro. My son tried it and spit it out.
We were done. Called for the server and the manager came over instead, only this time very noticably upset with us. I told him about mine and asked for the check. He returned with it and had taken off both meals, so I handed over my card and paid for our drinks and cheese dip. He refused to let me see or even sign the receipt. He was very hostile.
We will never ever go here again. Go to the Taco place inside BP at the corner. Go to the Venezuelan place down 92 towards 575, or go to El Jinete 2 minutes east on 92. All of them are excellent.
Lastly, I'll add than I'm half Cuban, 1st generation American, and former resident of Southern California. I, and my son, KNOW what El pastor and carne asada are supposed to taste like....
Read moreAs soon as we (my boyfriend and I) walked into the place the hostess was short and aggressive, which I thought was odd, but quickly dismissed it and we sat at our booth. I ordered a Coke and my boyfriend ordered a water, the server brought back two Cokes (I'm fairly certain they are not serving Coke btw, as it tasted VERY off, I'm betting its RC Cola or something of the like) and left without giving us straws or before we could correct the order. She didn't come back for a long time, and my boyfriend doesn't drink Coke, so he had to ask another waitress for a water. When she finally came back to get our food order, we ordered two vegetarian entrees, as we are both vegetarians. The food took an incredibly long time considering all they do is reheat the food, but anyways... there was CHICKEN in my boyfriends vegetarian meal. No one, not one single time came to check in on us, so my boyfriend (being a very non-confrontational kind of guy) just ate around the chicken because we were so hungry. When she finally came back to ask if we needed boxes (lol) I told her about the chicken and showed her and she said and I quote "Oh, that happens sometimes, its hard not to get a lil' chicken in there" WTF!??! How is that even an appropriate response to someones dietary restrictions?? She walked off at that point with our card and never bothered to remedy the problem. It was taking awhile for her to bring the card back, but then I saw her across the dining room yell in Spanish to another woman, and that woman scurried out from behind the bar and brought our card TO THE WRONG TABLE!!!! She eventually found us, and let me tell you, we were so upset we had to experience this on what was supposed to be a nice lunch out, we did not tip, and we will never walk into this establishment ever again, I suggest you do the same. Awful...
