Very cool place, potential is there and I’m sure some of the good reviews are as accurate, just wasn’t today. I’d recommend giving this one a try if you don’t see a full lot and line out the door. Very busy day in town all around and waiting was the theme of the day at most places.
I was there tonight and watched several of the other reviews from today occur, and they are not wrong. The mood was off and the staff lacked any sense of being happy, customer service, communication skills or attempt to at-least fake it, be pleasant or sense of wanting to be there to serve people. At one point, about an hour in, we took a walk around outside to stretch our legs and then came back and noted that no one inside, outside, bar-top or waiting line had any food…. Not 1 person.
The food; NACHOS - the meat on the app nachos came cold and slightly undercooked or overly fatty, very tall plate of nachos with great presentation but poor balance of meat - cheese - chip ratio. For the extra fee to add meat, it should have been more noteworthy, mostly just chips and cheese was burnt on. Genuinely curious if that’s the way it’s served or was an error. BURGER/sandwiches - mid but ok, not much more than warm when arrived but ok TACOS - shells and meat both overcooked, which makes the shells tough and the meat dry. Balance of greens was off, too much, borderline salad territory. CRUNCHWRAP - was good! This seemed to be a crowd favorite at many tables. BURRITO - almost not edible, seemed like a meat issue, slimy and undercooked maybe. Couldn’t tell, didn’t take more than a couple bites.
At the end of service is when things started to happen with haste… 2 people started clearing our table of everything while we sat there just waiting for the check, seemed like they were in a hurry for us to leave so they could seat the next group, or had run out of dishes and needed to get some cleaned quickly. Either way it felt like they wanted us to hurry out, still just waiting on the check to do so.
Suggestions; Staff had handhelds to order and process payments, tech obviously present and being used. I’d inquire about having QR links on the tables to have people mobile pay their checks with your POS system. Also maybe invest in some additional outside picnic tables at the front, or a fire pit and chairs, for people waiting to sit at. Lots of people leaning or sitting on railings and the ground when we left. The parking lot had a sign pointing to additional parking across the way. That would suggest lines are going to be typical and catering to those waiting would likely go a long way.
Please don’t consider not trying this cool spot because of reviews, this is just sharing the experience we had but that is certainly not everyone’s every-time. We would try again and update this review on...
Read moreAh man. Yikes! I wanted to like this place. It’s not stuffy and the menu looks fun. I’m giving them two stars because it seems to be the pain of being a new restaurant. I hope one day this is just an old and irrelevant review.
There are two problems: The easiest to fix is setting expectations with customers on wait times. Proper check ins, as well. Staff really lacked check-ins until things went south for each individual table, and for tonight, it felt like the whole restaurant. People were simply leaving.
A simple “Kitchen is slow as we just opened” would be good. Maybe even suggestions on what to order.
Consider seating folks and informing them on kitchen backups so they can choose if they want to wait and have a beer, or leave. It’s better that the restaurant looks popular in a GOOD way than simply underprepared and unbothered until a complaint arises.
With the size of the staff, the restaurant, the popularity, and budget option this restaurant fits into at Woodstock, I really wonder how they will pull off the extensive menu. It’s huge. Kudos to the cooks in the back because I KNOW they were slammed. Food took forever, but the way it was handled wasn’t their fault.
I hope it works out. Restaurants are hard and it’s clear that some folks here are invested in making it better. However, the whole ship needs to be on board with improving. This is your product right now. Hopefully not like this for long.
It truly pained me to see people simply walking out and...
Read moreI live in Woodstock and I was very excited to try this restaurant when my daughter came back for a weekend from college. Unfortunately the negative reviews are true. Servise: I was seated right away, at 5 pm the restaurant was half empty. The waitress did not come to the table and after 25 minutes I asked the bus boy if he could locate her. She came in the next 5 minutes with the waters. Very unpleasant and rude individual. She took the order and our appetizers were out of the kitchen and delivered by another server in 10 minutes. Great! Food: overall the food was not great. The cauliflower appetizer was only couple of peices in a small bowl. Tortilla chips were a full basket but the side quakamole was a tiny dish with little in it. Both boritos were fine but very little flavor. No salsa or other spices on it. Overall, I hate the feeling of being ignored by the waitress and the food did not impress for a total of $70. I will not be coming back but see...
