Our stay at the Vesper Inn was a very weird experience. With such high reviews, we expected much better and were left quite dissatisfied. While the location is excellent, just a short walk from Main Street, there were many issues that made our stay disappointing. From the start, the check-in process felt impersonal—no friendly welcome, just a page on the wall with instructions on how to enter our room. It lacked the warmth and charm that we usually look forward to in bed and breakfasts, where staff interactions are a big part of the experience. We were given phone numbers to contact the staff, but it took about 36 hours to get a response despite our multiple attempts. It made us wonder what would have happened in an emergency. Finally, someone replied via text on our last night, but the overall lack of service was a real letdown. Breakfast is only served for one hour, from 8-9 AM, which felt restrictive. When I came downstairs shortly after 9, a staff member was already clearing up and didn’t even acknowledge me or say good morning. The inn itself is quite noisy, being right on the road with paper-thin walls and loud doors, so a good night’s sleep is hard to come by without earplugs. They also don’t provide cleaning during your stay, which was strange but manageable. Overall, the Vesper Inn has so much potential to be a great place, but it lacks the heart and care that make inns feel special. While Woodstock is an amazing city with a perfect Vermont vibe, I wouldn’t recommend this place to friends looking for a...

The Vesper is absolutely beautiful!!! It’s way prettier in person than the photos online!! We stayed in the room with the balcony and couldn’t have been happier with our choice! The room is huge with a very large bathroom and sitting area. The decor is sort of Scandinavian/modern (VERY Cute🥰) and the bed is SUPER comfortable!! The night before our stay, we booked a last minute hotel room in another town and the mattress was so bad that we never actually fell asleep, so our room at The Vesper was a much needed retreat! The host at The Vesper is very nice/accommodating and allowed us to check in 3-4 hours early, thank God, because it was cold and we were tired from no sleep the night before. Our room was VERY clean and beautiful! The absolute BEST thing about The Vesper, is the prime location on Pleasant Street. It is a very short walk to town. It’s a short enough walk you could carry all your luggage through town and not be wore out when you get there, but it’s tucked away enough that you still have peace and quiet on your balcony. Another good thing is there is plenty of parking, if you get to Woodstock early, just park your car at The Vesper and walk around town until your room is ready. If we ever make it back to Vermont, we will definitely stay here again and hopefully be able to book the room with the balcony, if it’s available. Thank you Dana for our very lovely stay! Your place is...

My daughter and I stayed in the Soto room which had a living area, fire place, & a balcony. It was PERFECT for us. We had charcuterie by the fire place while we watched our movies at night. Our favorite part was meeting people downstairs while eating breakfast. The coffee was delicious and my daughter was obsessed with the local fresh apples and the breads (pumpkin and a blueberry lemon.) Dana was or is our kind of speed… gave great recommendations for going hard in the paint but also for chilling and winging it (which we did more of)… the room was clean and the location perfect. I only recommend this if you like the bnb style where you are ok with interacting with people. We met people from different states and countries staying there also … everyone staying there seemed to want to take it slow and enjoy their coffee, their time, and sights in a laid back way… and thats the vibe I would say the Vesper has. Everyone also seemed to appreciate community and was friendly. It is not uber fancy (which I preferred), but it is crisp and clean and offers a great pace for your trip. Also, each item they decorate with has a purpose or meaning, so I appreciated the thought and intentionality behind it. It was a perfect way to have a mommy daughter trip of ease since its so close to virtually everything in town. I plan on coming back with the rest...

Staycations have a special place in my heart, especially when I get to spend them with my mom. As a local Vermonter it is easy to become numb to the "quaintness" of old inns and farmhouses. However, the Vesper Inn offered something incredibly unique with all the cozy charm and character you could want from a home away from home! The Vesper provides the best of both worlds – the independence of a self check-in process with the white glove treatment of knowing your innkeeper is just in the other room to offer local insight, a casual conversation, and anything you could need during your stay. In addition to superb service, it was the attention to detail that really blew me away and made it hard to leave. From the dishes to the duvet to all the artistic touches there was obvious thought and care put into every inch of this place. The Vesper is a breath of fresh air and personality; the perfect place to stay to experience the intersection of Vermont's past and future. We can't wait to come back!

Found this gem via googling some hotels / lodging in Woodstock and it looked perfect. We stayed on a stop on our way to Montréal. We checked in and Dana greeted us and showed us to our room and couldn’t have been more amazing. We stayed in the SOTO room, an upstairs queen room and it was fantastic. I have to note, the new wool carpet she installed in that area was soooo soft and comfortable. The room had everything we needed. The large bathroom was spacious as well as the walk in tiled shower. We had a great nights sleep and the homemade continental breakfast spread was great. The B&B’s location is solid perfect easy walk to downtown Woodstock with some great restaurants. I would recommend checking the Vesper out and booking your next Woodstock trip here.

Wow. My team and I booked all 9 rooms for a work retreat and we were blown away. The main word that comes to mind is Thoughtful. The rooms were comfortable and stocked with fresh water in bedside carafes. The breakfast and snacks were exceptional and local! The responsiveness was unmatched. The recommendations were stellar. Every single detail is curated carefully. Again, so thoughtful. Not to mention Dana is just wildly rad! She is so friendly and cool. Just really makes you feel at home and puts you at ease. I will be back with my family! Thanks for everything!
