Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille - Woonsocket — Restaurant in Woonsocket

I've been going to Chelos since I was a kid. Always good service and food. This Saturday we ordered some delivery and within an hour I was violently sick. I'll spare you the details. But I knew something was off when I tasted the thanksgiving sandwich. It was supposed to be on a panini. When I think panini I think thick crispy bread. No, this was soggy wet bread saturated in oil/butter. Whatever it was I couldn't even make it to the bathroom when it hit. I called and asked for a manager. The manager said he would have someone contact me. Someone called at about 9 pm that night and never left a voice mail. Tried calling back and left a message for some guy named Jim but I have not heard anything back. Things happen but they should treat their customers better than that. At least call them back after a terrible experience like I had.

Update after trying to contact management for a refund several times (with multiple voicemails left) I've been told that someone would contact me. I'm not very faithful about their response given their actions so far. I've just about had it. Every manager I have talked to at Chelo's tries to tell me how long the gestational period is for food born illness, like they physicians. I'll be contacting the state board of...

Chelo's is absolutely a local favorite. I've been eating here since I was a child and it's only gotten better.

The food here is delicious and usually tastes fresh. While I was a meat eater, I truly could not go wrong ordering nearly ANYTHING on the menu. Honestly, if something sounds good to you, I wouldn't be afraid to try it at Chelo's.

Do not leave Chelo's without trying one of their desserts. They have the best carrot cake I've ever had, and the Willie Wonka cake is one of my absolute all time favorites.

The staff is almost always friendly, and they are usually very attentive.

The atmosphere here is relaxed and casual while not being rowdy, even with the bar.

The managers can often be seen walking around and checking on the tables to see if everything is okay, which is nice to see.

**Vegans/vegetarians: Chelo's has been putting a new vegan option on the seasonal menu rotation every season for several years now! You should check their site to see what's new! Went for a family dinner. Usually do well here. Wasn't very busy for a Friday night around 7pm. Seated right away. Ordered drinks. Took quite a while to get them. Ordered food. Took quite a while to get it and the salad was forgotten. Got the salad but when I started to eat it, realized that most of the lettuce was brown. Sent it back and got a new one. My son got the kids spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were solid and could not be cut. Sent it back and ordered him the mac and cheese. The manager came over and offered my son and ice cream sandwich as compensation. No offer to us to take it off the bill even as this was the second time I had to send something back.
