This fun little place is a must–try right in the heart of Canal District!
One of my friends is the curious/ adventurous type and is always searching for something new to try in the City. There were four of us in our party, and we booked a table online on a Friday night and loved it! Upon arriving, their friendly staff greeted us and showed us to a reserved high–top table by the windows.
Their drinks menu is very interesting as they specialize in serving the best infused drinks which were well–crafted the 'Boardroom Mule' is delicious!!! Bar Manager Moose came to our table and brought our drinks, he is also an outstanding, knowledgeable bartender.
They serve great food you can't go wrong with their Kabob Plate or the Falafel Burger, trust me! As we were enjoying our meal, Chef Eli came to our table and brought a side of their famous 'Handmade Cheese Rolls' filled with a special cheese blend—an addicting sampling of cheeses wrapped in a Turkish pastry wrap deepfried—which melts in your mouth and leaves you craving for more!
Just as we finished our meals, restaurant owner Johanna stopped by to ask about our experience. She was extremely personable and made us feel welcomed and definitely set the tone for future visits.
Overall, Boardroom Kitchen and Bar has a great intimate/cozy vibe, perfect for drinks with friends—a light meal and getting together in the evening—also excellent for a date... :o)
p.s. If you sit by the windows, you'll also get to enjoy Polar Park's fireworks display Friday nights from the comfort of your table and drink in hand by 9:00p.m. Cheers to you for reading this in...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to try the Boardroom last night; it was a last minute choice but based on the multiple 5-star reviews I thought it would be hard to go wrong. So considering that context...our experience was really underwhelming and confusing.
I'm not exactly sure what type of restaurant this is intended to be - sports bar? swanky lounge? American hipster? Mediterranean? There is an amalgamation of themes here. Not like that makes or break it, but it does give some ambience. Also they had music playing (SO loud) and it went from country to hip hop to pop to punk rock...just confusing. The drinks we ordered were just OK; I got the Freshyyy which I wasn't a total fan of, but the bartender was very nice and helpful. He ended up making me a solid old fashioned. Finally, the food was also just OK. I got the shrimp burger and my girlfriend got the falafel burger in a pita. The shrimp burger was weird in a good way (never had shrimp in a patty), but it could have used some crunch (the chef came over and mentioned adding red cabbage slaw---- I agree!!). My gf thought the falafel was "pretty good". We both agreed that it would have been nice if the food came on something other than these huge metal trays - just because the table was kind of small.
All-in-all, it just felt like there were a lot of little things that can be tightened up to really pull it up to the 5-star status. The staff were all very nice; we really wanted to like this restaurant more! We'll probably try it...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! My wife and I were visiting family in Worcester (as we often do) and were looking for a quick lunch on Sunday, just the two of us. While looking for a different place, we stumbled on Boardroom, and it was immediately inviting, with large open front windows and a cheerful vibe. We decided to go in an I'm so glad we did. The service was fantastic; the chef even brought us out a special snack to try toward the end of our meal, on the house. We had one of their special cocktails each; I had a burger which was so nicely grilled (two patties, in fact!), and the bun was grilled as well, which I love and is often a complaint I have at other restaurants. My wife had the nachos which she said were good, and we both appreciated that there was corn on them, and fresh salsa on the side. Everyone was so friendly and the environment and food were spot on. Next time, I think we'll order something of the Mediterranean variety, as it would seem from the menu and other peoples' photos that that's likely the chef's specialty. The flatbreads, for instance, look fantastic. Give this...
