I approached the bar on a very busy Thursday night after performing a show in the upstairs auditorium. While I waited another patron of the bar engaged me in conversation, the bartender, a woman quickly unbeknownst took the order of the gentleman next to me who had approached the bar after I had. I struck up a conversation with this patron and told him that I often get angry at the bartenders for ignoring me in situations like the one that had just happened as opposed to the person who unknowingly got served before me although arriving after I had when I’d clearly been waiting. The patron nervously laughed as I felt he felt I had caught him in the act. During the time that the bartender was working on 3 drinks for this patron another patron approached the bar and essentially muscled her way on top of me as I sat there waiting for the bartender to return. The patron who pushed herself on top of me leaned in more than needed to to get the bartenders attention, I also leaned in further to not only get the bartenders attention but to also alleviate this other patron who was aggressively attempting to get the bartenders attention. The patron next to me then moved herself almost into the bar stool next to me prompting me to stand up to give this individual room to impede my personal space. The bartender who up until this point had ignored my presence immediately shot me a glare and shouted “sit down”! I shouted back to her...”I have no room to sit; something is preventing me from sitting on my stool” motioning to the patron next to me who was still leaning in to the bar to be served. The bartended shouted again “Sit DOWN” The patron who was leaning in took a few steps back allowing me to sit down again on my stool. The bartender finally after this came over to take my order. She asked “what are you having”? As if I were bothering her...I asked for a Heineken. She bought the bottle back opened and I produced my credit card. The bartender quickly informed me “The beer was $4.95 and it’s a 10 dollar minimum so did I want to keep it open or...I replied I’ll just buy another one. The bartender quickly informed me that it still wouldn’t be the $10 minimum. Frustrated at the interaction and the way I had been treated I offered to buy three beers just to seamlessly purchase the one beer I wanted. The bartender then yelled “Im not serving you three beers”! implying that I wanted 3 beers to drink all myself. I remarked to the bartender “you just served the guy next to me 3 beers...why can’t I but 3 to at least make the minimum”? The bartender remarked “he’s with a lot of people” I replied “Im also with a lot of people”. The bartender screamed “Look don’t go back and forth with me do you want to open a tab or not”. I told her I was no longer interested and she quickly asked the patron who had been leaning in what she was having as I walked away. For context sake, the patrons in this review and the bartender were white and I was and am a proud black man. Worcester, Massachusetts. All are...
Read moreI showed up with my group of 5 girls at 11pm on a Friday and didn’t get let in because they were “at capacity”. As my friends and I (who are all either 21 or 22) were waiting outside, we watched at least 15 people leave and the security kept telling us that he had miscounted the amount of people and that we had to wait. My friends and I ended up going next door to the Banner and stayed there for a while and at around 12:20am we went back outside to the White Eagle and the same security guard told us that they were closing and weren’t letting anybody else in, even though they supposedly close at 1am and we’re not packed at all just looking in the windows. The security guard clearly did not want us in and did not want our business — the only reason we can think of is that he thought we were underage but if he bothered to check our IDs, we clearly are of age. extremely disappointed in the...
Read moreWe used this space to film a commercial and it couldn't have been more perfect. Marian and Julie were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were hospitable, welcoming, and even helped with the production. They were always on call and willing to help where help was needed. The establishment was clean, bathrooms were beautifully re-done, and all crew and talent were very happy. I highly recommend using this space for commercial/film production. It has multiple rooms and amenities to cater to your needs. They supplied all chairs and tables, as well as, garbage and cleaning services. We will definitely work with them again if the opportunity...
