Mai Tai Bar and Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in Worcester

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl and the treatment I received from the owner made me never want to return or refer this restaurant to anyone. I called in and ordered “Shrimp Tempura”. When I went to pick it up and paid I received “Chicken Tempura”. I called in and told them they got my order wrong and a staff told me to come in and he’ll give me the shrimp tempura and apologized on their behalf for getting my order wrong. I drove all the way back out to the restaurant in bad weather. For the staff to say when I walked in “let me confirm with my boss”. Mind you they got my order wrong. The boss then came outside and approached with a rowdy voice and disrespectful attitude with no sympathy on their behalf for not giving me what I ordered and I brought in the receipt that said “CHICKEN TEMPURA”. The disrespectful “boss” TOLD ME IF I WANTED TO GET THE SHRIMP TEMPURA I HAD TO WALK OUT TO MY CAR AND GIVE HIM BACK THE CHICKEN TEMPURA THAT THEY ALREADY GAVE ME. I respectfully told him that’s disgusting and unsanitary that they would accept food back from customers especially when it was a take out order. I STRONGLY FEEL LIKE THIS PLACE SHOULD BE INSPECTED AND I WILL BE CALLING INSPECTION ON MAI TAI’S BEHALF. Y’all have terrible service and are rude. Remember that your customers are your paychecks. Today is 9/13/21 the worst DAY ever in this FREAKING PLACE. I been coming to the place for years. THE BEST OF THE BEST IS TAYLOR!! She knows what she is doing👍 I went with my cousin like a month ago but my Taylor wasn’t there😞 So another woman help us🤦‍♀️ they got her sushi 🍣 Wrong. So A Man come to are table with a attitude. But knew that it was made wrong so had to change. But he was RUDE. I say let me give them another chance. OMG IT WAS THE WORST.. I ordered 2 different Sushi and one of them was made wrong. So when I Told her. Her response was that’s what you ordered😳🤦‍♀️.. WHAT A C.S.. I explain that was not. So she say I will bring you what you ordered. And brought the same thing.. 😡 Of course I was Done ✔️ I didn’t eating. And then put both of the Sushi on the the Bill😣.. I never had a experience like this. While travelling on rte# 290 at 8:00 PM on Friday we wanted to stop in Worcester for a quick bite and came here by chance. Very glad we did.

Upon entering, the place certainly looks like a dive bar. Large bar along left wall, sushi bar behind, assorted non inviting tables and booths. Nothing to write home about atmosphere...Our server showed up quickly with a smile and menus. Tons of sushi, sashimi, maki, salads and soups. Some traditional appetizers and a couple of stri fry. Our server was excepionally helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. She made us feel comfortable.

We ordered soft shell crab, spicy salmon and smoked salmom. Some of the best Japanese food we ever had. Couldn't have been more pleased with service and food. Don't let the funky " dive-bar atmosphere" turn you away.

Food and service deserve more than 5 stars but atmosphere...
