We tried to go to Duke's (riverside) to celebrate a family member's birthday tonight on their patio. We all anticipated a wait due to the holiday and nice weather. We waited TWO hours and watched several 5-6 people parties walk in and be seated ahead of us. When we inquired, we were told they were doing the best they could. Not one time did they communicate anything with us.
They were also asked in advance if they could keep two ICE CREAM cakes cold for dessert. They were put in a cold dessert case near the hostess stand and we watched them melt as we waited. When asked if they could find an alternative to keep them cold while we waited, the manager said "there is nothing we can do for you"
The manager, Chris, was rude and disrespectful. 13 people waited to be seated and were patient for well over an hour. The rude way we were ALL treated was unacceptable!
When I questioned him about the other parties being seated upon arrival, his answer was rude, obnoxious and disrespectful. I asked at the very least if the birthday girl could be comped her meal and he said "well that's not happening!"
Expecting customers to wait hours with NO attempt to communlcate any updates is unreasonable! Treating customers rudely because YOU are unable to properly manage a busy restaurant is unprofessional and unacceptable.
I will, however. commend the young lady at the hostess station. She doesn't deserve the flack she takes being the messenger for a manager who clearly doesn't do his job well.
Important to note, we no longer go to Dukes in Mechanicsburg after a roach crawled up our table during a visit there for dinner. We discreetly advised the manager to avoid alerting other customers. After admitting they had an ongoing problem, no attempt was made to apologize or to thank us for making sure no other customers knew what was going on. We had to leave our food untouched, yet were asked to pay for our meals. We even followed up with calls to management and never got a return call.
We will NEVER go back to either place or any establishment owned by the same owners. Sad that they allow their managers to behave this way.
Feel free to share. I do not want anyone to EVER have this kind of experience...
Read moreWe had the worst experience I’ve had in a lonnnnnngggg time! My family came in for a birthday party of 7 , and we got a wonderful server Peyton. She was incredible, fast, kind and just an overall rockstar to our day! She was morning shift getting ready to go we paid our bill, gave her tip and she had left. A little while goes by and Angela didn’t introduce herself or anything just came over and grabbed a two glasses and said “it’s shift change and I’m clearing the table” we started handing out plate stacks towards the end of the table for easier access to them but she never emptied any off. Being a server myself for years i know that was the rude way of saying get out. Instead of introducing herself and asking if we needed anything else (which we were going to open up a drink tab again) she started shit talking is to other servers. I clearly was reading her lips. She was also staring at us clearly wanting us to get out. We let it go for quite some time until i finally had enough. Got up and asked if she had a problem and why she was staring at us, instead of asking if there’s anything she could do. She got down right nasty. “I can look wherever i want”. Asked for a manager at this point because why not. Chris came out. Was INCREDIBLE in handling us. Two gentlemen from the bar (KJ was one! He was incredible bartender and server along with another gentleman whose name i didn’t catch.) came over and asked if we needed anything. We said actually yes! We will start a tab! Started a tab drank one each and cleared out pretty quickly and leaving an almost spotless area. It wasn’t ultra busy or we would have gotten up and clear the room. Again a family of servers here we get the industry. I am just disgusted by the way she acted from the start. Owners i know you’re not ultra involved but this woman? Needs to go. It truly has but a bad taste in my mouth about this establishment we otherwise LOVE to attend. Ruining my sisters birthday afternoon. Great food and drinks despite...
Read moreMy kids and I were there in town doing some shopping.(we are not from the area) and I saw the place, and figured we would stop there to eat. We got seated right away. We got our drinks in a timely manner. My cocktails were good. Kids drinks were fine, besides them bringing out the wrong soda for my teenage son. 🤷♀️….Then the food came out rather sooner than I thought. (They weren’t that busy that day) anyway, my son got a waffle fry dish with pulled pork, cheese, and slaw all on top. It was a tad sweet but good. My little daughter got grilled chicken, and chips. Her chicken was a tad dry. But she ate it. And I got there crab quesadillas. Which all the food was nice and hot. Looked well. But there was wayyy to much cheese on the quesadillas. And they came with the crab dip on them instead of crab, which I guess was ok. But there was barely any crab dip on them. U could barley taste the crab. It’s almost like just getting a cheese quesadilla. I should have sent them back. (They told me they were really good, so I took their word for it) But considering the price for a quesadilla, I think their food is a bit over priced. I will spend 16.50 on a totally different meal next time. I also got their fried zucchini as an appetizer, which was very hot and fresh. Over all the food was good. I would give it a try again. The place was nice. The waiters could be a bit better. 7 min after getting our food, they asked if we needed a box🤦♀️ Who does that? I will try it there one more time. But I hope they clean their menus b/c they are very sticky, which is annoying. And not very sanitary. Other than that I would have given maybe 4 stars for the food and atmosphere. I’ll def try something else next time. Their menu is way to large. I personally think they should downsize it. It would probably help them out. Considering all the other reviews aren’t so great. They have to much going on. And I also think the owner should step up his game reading other peoples...
